The remaining 9,876 abortions were voluntary terminations.
Before the legalisation of abortion in in 2018, it was estimated 3,000 to 4,000 women from Ireland traveled to Britain each year for abortion services.
According to 2016 statistics, of the 3,500 women who traveled to Britain for abortion services, 2,500 were Irish.
