Idi, just on a side issue, there used to be a bakery in off Thomas Street called St Catherine's bakery. It was the opposite
side of the road to St. Catherine's church. There was a bread shop as part of the bakery where you could buy loaves.

Wonder is it there now, I think it is moved or gone. Johnny Lawler was the head baker and he was very knowledgeable.

Started work at 4 am. He would have a few pints on the way home at 1 pm.

The following clip about the Hawthorn Tree is fascinating, when you consider this is exactly what the old Celtic tribes here in Ireland did thousands of years ago.

The trees were very important to the Celts and if they wanted to stir shit or start some aggro with a rival tribe , they would sneek in at night and cut down their enemy's tribal tree. There is an Irish word for the tribal tree, but I forget it now. If TG was here he'd be able to tell us - it was something like - bileach, if I half remember rightly.

Mowl once said he milked a cow on a school trip to Meath. All the kids were laughing at him, turned out he was "milking" a bull.

I went there about a year ago and the street was full of Roma gangs drinking, shouting. I noticed they were throwing meat on the street which was attracting seagulls, and probably rats. I saw a few of the old traders looking on in despair. Fucking tragic.

Haven't gone back since.
