I dont think so. It is all about draining Russia . Now that it did not work, they hoped to eliminate some oil revenues.

The tune has changed recently and it looks like Ukraine has been used up. They got a year of a proxy war and killed a lot of Russians. So that was a success. With just 6 days til the annerversary, we can expect some announcement or event.

I wonder can bankrupt be held til then. A lot of Russians must be getting g killed there.

Not as many we think. Someone posted the death counts recently. It was Ukraine at over 150,000 while Russia was about 12,000 or so

America has Decided to Destroy the Eu = = The only question is why ? ? ?
They do not want Eurasian cooperation. A Eurasian economic grouping would spell the end to their dreams of dominating the world. They have also managed to acquire the role as energy supplier to Europe which is good for their industries.

To achieve these goals they went into Eastern Europe and fanned the flames of anti Russian hatred (which reached levels of psychosis) they could permanently cut off Russia from Western Europe through Ukraine and Poland and Romania and the Baltics and these areas are where they have been concentrating for decades. In fairness Putin was duped as much as the drunk Yeltsin was into a false sense of security.

There are some countries now moving to prepare for what they say will be a Russian attack West.

What a way to waste money!
The Swedes have totally lost the plot.
Or have been coerced into same.
And the Finns and baltic states.
WTF?

The Neocons have brainwashed them all into such an anti-Russian stupor that they can't see reality!

Tanker was reportedly carrying Russian naphtha, so it's going to burn and burn. The Houthis are apparently giving Saudi, Russian and Chinese tankers free passage.

The Whitehouse is considering withdrawing troops from Iraq and Syria (which is freaking out the Neocons in the Administration) - it's the wrong time to do it since they're under fire, it should have been done a year ago, but resources are stretched.

In the meantime the news cycle in the US in the Democrat media is focused on a silly money award for a dubious incident. The cracks are growing larger.

The USN got sidetracked in its ship development program in the last cycle - not just the Zumwalt destroyers but also with the new littoral fleet they planned to introduce (details below). The question will be if they can refit and replace their current fleet in good order to keep their stats strong in any calculations.

Sea going vessels are going to find themselves as redundant as tanks have proven, in any super power conflict. Barring some new and highly effective drone killing tech in the next few years.

Just on the cost alone, taking out cheap drones right now requires using a barrage of very expensive missiles. The math currently doesn't work. And only a couple of drones need to escape the defenses to be effective

Ships are platforms. If the oceans are to be patrolled there will always be a role for them. Foreign bases need seaborne supply - everything can't be flown in. They are still developing tactics to counter novel threats and aren't distinguishing themselves recently.

These minor conflicts are depleting their stores of advanced weaponry - like when a bull is bled prior to the matador taking the stage.

One reason why De Santis was a good strategic choice is because he's a navy guy and would have had an interest in seeing it righted - but that doesn't look like happening.

I suppose the boom bust cycle has to run. The question is where will it settle.

TASS notes that that the EU, which was never meant to be a military organisation, is ill prepared for war as its combined defence forces have dropped in number from 3.4m to 1.3m since 1989.

It's also doubtful that it could build up the numbers significantly as the latest generations are busy doing stuff that doesn't involve killing people, why should they want to take to the trenches? However, young fit lads from North Africa might be happy to give it a go, handy that they are turning up by the boatload.

Sending Mohamid to the front would be as smart as Putin emptying the prisons. I doubt if they are that dim though.

Just saw that the US Navy has dropped all high school diploma and general education requirements for applicants. War is coming
The fact that sophisiticated weapon systems are proving to be a lot less effective than envisaged and trench warfare has returned to the battlefield might mean that its simple cannon fodder that is required rather than people who can use 'pooters and stuff. And the simpler the better.

Putin isn't offering 40 virgins as a reward though! When the little head takes over from the big head then who knows what they'll do.
