i see adopted kids from other countries who were adopted very early and i am fascinated by the emerging of a foreign sometimes troubled person holding an Irish passport .
in England the 1st generation Irish with their snow white skin and totally ethnic britishness have a spark a wit a social bravery and a very distinct forwardness born of a person who is richer culturally than the norm and it shows---- you can frequently pick it out .
the welsh do not have it and the Scottish are castrated mentally by the British who own all their farmland and only allow them to be crofters.
i drew this to the attention some of my English relations some of which were in laws and did not understand they were married to what i casually called 1st generation Irish and you could see this troubled them somewhat that the Irish and their married partners did not dispute my description of them now heard for the first time and i was enthralled at observing the uncomfortable dawning of the fact they were married to an Irish person all along .
one cousin works as a chef in the crown courts and i teased him what is the crown --the army swear allegiance and the courts swear allegiance to the crown who the fuck is the crown ?.
this did not go down well and the dutiful Christmas cards arrive for the past 12 years all addressed to me with the addition EIRA .
they have never failed to be delivered in 12 years .
