Fortification doesn't always mean defense. Very often it means the opposite.
Protect weak directions to have fewer troops defending them and move the remaining troops for attack in other directions
But in this case, it is obvious that in 5 years' time, NATO is going to provoke Russia into war by setting a blockade against Kaliningrad

My view is that it sets a demarcation line. Thus far and no more.

The sort of equipment that is deployed to fortifications are different to those deployed in active defensive lines (which are very similar to offensive components). This would mean that they would not have the excuse for large war games in these areas that could be a pretext for an invasion. This should reassure Russia that NATO was not going to encroach any further and at least give a warning if such preparations were being made. The Belorussian carry on was the straw that broke the camel's back when it came to Russian trust in diplomatic processes and somehow that will have to be rebuilt.

From the Baltics' perspective, this permits a strategy more satisfactory than the trip-wire one where they would be sacrificed similar to Poland at the beginning of WWII. Fortifications are credible deterrents, as is evidenced by their use in Ukraine. It would also conserve their forces in the scenario of an invasion and allow for a reaction time for civilians. Better to do it well in advance of anything happening.

It is not unreasonable for the Baltics to be concerned (given their past) and this defensive line should shunt pressures between Russia and NATO to other theatres. There is a considerable on-going investment in these countries that is long term in nature and very impressive, we don't need it wrecked by an exchange of fire (as well as these works being a nice bit of work for the lads).

Let's not go into a long lecture on the history of Kaliningrad unless we want an argument to break out between Germany and Poland - aren't medium range nuclear missiles stationed there? The fact is that this line stabilises the region around St Petersburg - it makes things predictable and makes it difficult for hawks on either side to advocate extraordinary measures. The big strategic change is the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO which is not a win for Russia.

It's best for all of us that this region is frozen into an armed peace than subject to the schemes of volatile contingency.

They aren't fencing the Russians in.
They're cutting themselves off!
Energy and resources and so much more!
Stupidity,arrogance and hubris.
Realpolitik isn't a feature or European countries anymore.

When things settle down trade can start up again. This is an important region and we don't need it incinerated.

The war is now turning into the most humongous tragedy, and yet the Yank's rage for blood remains unsated.

When will we ever learn? We won't, not until there is no money to be made from such inhumane violence.

A shame that very good observation has never been accepted as a necessity by the western world leaders.
And that it should be recognised as an equal.
Not as a region.
Makes it sound like something to be exploited.

I meant the countries surrounding the Baltic sea, so region in that sense.

The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is pushing for RMNA cancer vaccines… what an evil notion? Not content at pushing population control via covid vaccines and causing turbo cancer they come again with more vaccines?

it just shows you.. the west, the globalists, the transhumanist WEF and their Jewish puppet masters….. etc etc

……
The world is on the cusp of a cancer-vaccine revolution that has been years in the making and that will transform cancer care. The number of mRNA cancer vaccines in development has more than doubled since 2017, with 21 in development globally in 2022.

The United Kingdom is at the forefront of trials in therapeutic cancer vaccines

Thank God Mr Putin is the great hope of a multi-polar world against the evil machinations of Blair, the WEF and the Jewish ZIonist banker regime.

Those white Europeans dying in the Ukraine will not have died in vain if Putin and Russia create a new hope for humanity.

And one sign of the coming society of hope is Russian scientists have nearly developed RMNA vaccine for cancer.

There shouldn’t be any question which side is on the side of the angels and which is most definitely not in what purports to be a war between Russia and Ukraine. One side is openly Christian and is fighting on their own land. The other side is led by an avowedly anti-Christian regime that is funded by Clown World and is literally persecuting priests and closing down churches.

Just a few facts that this defense line is actually to make war inevitable
1) Estonia is not hiding plans to close Gulf of Finland and effectively setting a blockade of Kaliningrad similar to the siege of Leningrad during WW2. The main purpose of bunkers will be to deter Russia from attacking Estonia and forcing Russia to make land corridor
2) This is why the British are so sure about Russian "fake border conflict" in Suvalki gap as the only way to Kaliningrad
80037041-12964575-image-m-43_1705335356333.jpg

3) Nuclear capable missile doesn't mean nuclear. This is why in the British plan we see that Russia will move nuclear warheads only October 2024
BTW, the nuclear weapons storage site in Kaliningrad is only 50km away from the Polish border, which means that Russia will have a chance to fire only 12 missiles(1 brigade) as the first strike. The launchers will be destroyed

As you see it is obvious to everybody that NATO is increasing the stakes in hope that Russia wont start WW3, which it cannot win
Globalist elites can easily sacrifice 10-20 millions people in Europe to achieve goal keeping Western domination

I wouldn't get too worked up about it. The Ukraine invasion demonstrates that it requires masses of manpower to make any ground and this sort of manpower is not available in the West or in Russia. The kind of mobilisation shown in 'Enemy at the Gates' isn't useful in modern warfare. That said, what's the CCP up to?

The greater danger is minor incursions that seize chunks of land. If these are made difficult without a significant escalation then they will be discouraged. Any invasion of Kaliningrad would be a clear trip wire for Russia - it's a part of Russia now. You'll be withdrawing from Transnistria once the peace settlement is done though.

People of Transnistria don't want to be part of Romania
Balkan wars showed that NATO is not consistent about resolving such conflicts
It supported ethnic cleansings in Croatia, but at the same time NATO seized land piece from Serbia and effectively made it part of Albania

Transnistria is a part of Moldova, not Romania. The prospect of EU membership will probably relax any calls for the incorporation of Moldova into Romania.

The era of unrestricted Russian mafia activity is in the past. It's not the case that such entities can be used as a foreign policy weapon by Moscow to sow chaos on the borders. The Gangster Baronies will come to an end sooner or later and the easy trade in contraband and women stopped. Transnistria is on the table.

'Russia’s seizure of Crimea in 2014 has already shaken up this long-dormant situation for Transnistria. Though Transnistrian politicians have openly called on Russia to annex them, there appears to be little appetite for the prospect in Moscow. But Ukrainian crackdowns on smuggling and corruption after 2019 have upset the delicate balance that supported Transnistria, dealing a heavy blow to the illicit trade that dominates the breakaway republic’s economy.'

Mysterious attacks in Transnistria add further intrigue to Ukraine war - Washington Post

There's no talking sense about events in the former Yugoslavia - it's the Balkans. I'm not a fan of Kosova, seems like a miserable place that you wouldn't want to have a flat tire in. The Serbs are doing better now than they were under the Bibi of the nineties.

Why do you think Russians in Transnistria will benefit from EU membership?
Suppression of human rights of Russians in Baltic states is a good example of how Brussels can turn a blind eye to what does not match the agenda

The mafia is bad only if it Russian
Montenegro has been ruled by gangster Milo Ducanovic for nearly 30 years and he got forgiveness for all his sins after he moved his country to NATO without asking people

The only difference is that NATO is not bombing Belgrade, but EU is pressing hard on Serbs to recognize Kosovo and betray Serbs left there

Russian forces just planted a flag 70m from the entrance to Avdiivka sign. It was only in December of last year that Zelensky stood on this spot for a 'meet the troops' PR exercise. While doing this he said the words "We will defend Avdiivka".
