To Plunkett, Tiger, Bocht and Ms Catherine I belatedly offer my condolences on the death of your Sovereign, His Holiness the Vicar of Rome Pope Francis.

I'm sure you all are waiting with bated breath on whom will be the next Pontiff.

Hopefully Catholicism gets a Holy Catholic Pope this time, and Not A Globalist Communist Totalitarian Pope !

A Holy Catholic Pope is kinda the least that you would be wanting !
 
I'm holding out for a black pope. Or even better, a gay or trans pope. If only to see the heads explode on this forum.
 
Just to clarify because there might be a little confusion here:

- The head of the Catholic Church is Our Lord, Jesus Christ. And his teachings, in otherwords what you need to do to get to heaven and avoid hell, where so many go, are already articulated in the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. None of that changes with the Pope, but if the latter or any Bishop or priest departs radically and clearly from said ancient teachings, then they go to hell just like anybody else, and, frequently, those that followed them in said errors.
Many people feel thats what happened to Pope Francis.

- Its an heresy, or at least an error, to suggest that the Holy Ghost selects the Pope.
All human beings on earth have free will, and hence the result of their actions arise from their own choices. They are not God, as the Holy Spirit is, hence they make mistakes etc.
But if you pray sincerely to the Holy Spirit for guidance, then He will help certainly. So if the Cardinals are sincere in their prayers (and frankly that might be an unsafe assumption with some) them yes He will assist, but thats all you can say.

How do you know that?

While we acknowledge the passing of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, known to the world as Pope Francis, it would be remiss not to recognise that his pontificate was deeply troubling to many faithful Catholics. His tenure was marked by confusion, doctrinal ambiguity, and events—such as the Pachamama incident—that many rightly saw as scandalous and contrary to the perennial teachings of the Church. These actions have left deep wounds in the Mystical Body of Christ.

Nonetheless, we leave his soul to the mercy and judgment of Almighty God, who alone knows the heart of every man.

As for the Conclave, we pray earnestly that the next Supreme Pontiff will be a true shepherd—a defender of the Deposit of Faith, a restorer of tradition, and a visible sign of fidelity to Christ the King and the unchanging Magisterium of the Church.

They are now saying we have white smoke, but we don't know who it is yet.
 
Rumour that it is Ganja Smoke ~ ~ So, a Black Jamaican Pope may well be on the way ? !

Can a Rastafarian be Pope ? !

There is a possibility that he was not a Canonical Pope.
 
The Catholick church has always been a problem. All of Christianity has. We should return to our pre-Christian religions of the Roman Empire, Germania, Gaul, India & so forth.
 
Just in answer to James:
1) How do we know most people who die in the modern age are going to hell?

Because if you read some old authentic book on moral thelogy you will see the distinction between mortal and venial sins, and how if you die with unconfessed ones of the former you go to hell. Its clear most are in that category, and very few go to confession now.

And this is confirmed at well known apparitions, like Fatima where it was said that most people go to hell for sins of the flesh. Thats 1917, imagine how many commit them now?

2) How we know prayers to the Holy Spirit are answered?

Well why not give it a shot and find out? Do a Rosary everday for a week for some intention, and at least see do you feel changed by it?

When has the Catholick church not been 'Modernist'? Catholicism itself has always been progressive, since its beginning of tearing down the Roman Empire.

I don’t you understand what the term means in this context.

In terms of the Catholic Church, a modernist is someone who tries to reinterpret or change the traditional teachings of the Church to align with modern philosophy, science, or social trends. Modernists often question or downplay essential doctrines, such as the divinity of Christ, the authority of Scripture, or the supernatural elements of the faith, in favor of more symbolic or human-centered interpretations.

The Church, especially under Pope Pius X in the early 20th century, strongly condemned modernism, calling it “the synthesis of all heresies.” He saw it as a dangerous attempt to water down the faith and compromise eternal truths in order to please the spirit of the age.

In simple terms:

A modernist says, “Let’s change the Church to fit the world.”
The traditional Catholic says, “Let’s call the world to conform to the Church.”

But can Catholicism itself ever be called 'traditional' if the first Christians were anything but that, tearing down the religion of the Roman Empire & then further on that of Gaul & Germania?

The Catholic church only reluctantly made an alliance with Hitler, whose henchman, Himmler was trying to revive a genuine religiosity in Europe.
