As was noted in this forum a few days ago, John McGuirk, the editor of the Irish media organisation Gript, has been absent from his podcast and other fora there for the last three weeks or so, without explanation. It is now been confirmed that he has been dropped as the editor there.

A controversial figure, John McGuirk has been a prominent member of Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Libertas, and New Vision and in most cases left under something of a cloud and in not a few cases with bitter recriminations among former colleagues.

Gript originally started as a response by one of the most prominent anti-abortion groups, Youth Defence/Life Institute, to the failure of that movement in the abortion referendum. McGuirk headed that campaign for that group, which was run the rest of the time by Niamh Ní Bhriain.

It is not known why he has left/been-sacked as editor of Gript but the Irish Times is saying that he fell out with the aforementioned Niamh Ní Bhriain who is the deputy editor of Gript and a 50% shareholder. Maybe its something to do with his atheism, which he is quite proud of, or maybe his support for the state of Israel which he does not hide either, or other matters not in the public domain.

He is succeeded by "the Dublin-born son of a Jamaican immigrant, Ben Scallan", already a senior journalist on Gript.

Does Ben have Irish genetics on his Jamaican side? Descendant of Irish Catholic slaves or Irish Prod slaveowners? Were his African slave ancestors treated well by their owners, or is there intergenerational resentment?

What's his take on the Immigration Question?

He is very sound on immigration, asks plenty of tough questions. One parent Jamaican the other Irish. He's a fine choice to take over. Remember mad red Ruth coppinger refuses to take his questions, so obviously a good one

rumors- unsubstantiated of course on X - that McGuirk might run for Aontu. Would actually be very interesting if there is any truth in that, but he would have somewhat, name recognition, could get a seat next election...

Can Aontu fool that many.

They fooled Peterdown in cork to join

The funniest thing is boards.ie posters thinking McGuirk is a "far right" extremist, his world view today is identical to the FF/FG/PD world view in 2006.
using "boards.ie" yardstick - id say the break down of the Irish population is:
80% white irish are far right
18% foreign nationals = no opinion
2% lgtbq+-*@#O98 / socialists = progressive antifa

i supported gript with 10 euros per month of a sub as i felt their voice needed to be heard .
i then listened to mc gurk and was shocked to discover he is a mad unthinking illetrate -not give a shit zionist .
not a half clever man with Zionist views but a extremist daft unhinged- unthinking Zionist .
the final straw came when he opinioned the starving children of Gaza did not look dachu/auchwitz enough for his taste .
i wrote and phoned gript and cancelled my sub and i learned that i was one of many doing the same that day and the staff said pitifully THESE ARE HIS OWN OPINIONS NOT GRIPT --i responded he is your editor -good luck and goodbye.
