Ireland First, The Irish People and the National Party have agreed an alliance whereby an executive committee will decide who is allowed to go forward for election among those parties in the next General Election.

The statement issued also states that they had discussions with two other parties, but were unable to agree this arrangement with them. Obviously one was the Irish Freedom Party and I don't know who the other was.

There is clearly some demand for this, although I believe it's effect on preventing 'vote splitting' will prove to be very minimal. I guess a lot will depend on the makeup of this new Executive Committee, whose prognostications we await with interest!

I think this is daft myself, and nobody should pact with the NP till yjey have a lesser

If so then what is your guess as to the other party contacted? 'Glor, voice of the people' maybe?
 
I presume the reason the young lads in the national party like Yan etc went on Reynolds side is because they think Justin is too hardcore ?
 
Yes but it's two parties they spoke too, The Irish Freedom Party is certainly one, you would guess Aontu as the other?

I'm not aware of any other parties besides Aontu...if there are any smaller parties I doubt they'd be even worth talking to as their candidates would have got so few votes that their influence on any vote splitting would be minimal.
 
The gossip I heard is that it might be Independent Ireland, the party that elected Mullooly and MacNamara to Europe.
 
Well then they are daft because neither or these two fakes would associate with wacists. Think Reynolds but with a brain
 
Hermann Kelly anyway has made a video clarifying the position he, and his party the Irish Freedom Party, has adopted on this alliance. He states he offered to make Malachy Steenson and/or Derek Blighe (its not absolutely clear) leader of the Irish Freedom Party instead of himself, he would stand down and become deputy leader. Other than those offers he was not prepared to join with the other parties in an alliance for basically two reasons:
1) Because it would increase the 'aggro' or disagreements between people/parties;
2) Because he has spent many years trying to build the Irish Freedom Party brand, and beginning again from scratch to launch some new party doesn't make any sense to him.

That's the explanation anyway but he got some criticism from long established party members because he didn't decide to run it past them before rejecting any kind of alliance. He did seem to have consulted his deputy leader, Shane Lynam, though because the latter states that he followed all the proper procedures.
 
Herman actually for once sounded reasonable and likeable in that video. Blyghe was to be leader, he vice and steenson was chairman or something

Outside of mass immigration and the EU Malachy Steenson and Herman Kelly do not agree on much so strange that he would offer him the leadership.

I assumed this alliance was purely to ensure the parties don't run candidates in the same constituencies, so Hermann's excuses don't make sense, unless the alliance negotiations involved discussion of merging the parties. There is no need for Hermann to offer up leadership of IFP to Blighe/Malachy or talk of re-building IFP from scratch if all they are concerned about is vote splitting.

The National Party did not consult its members about this alliance either.
 
Well Herman was talking a merger obviously, but i doubt the others were
