I have started this post to try and help others if I can and to give a running commentary on events as they take place so that people can ask questions if they wish .my father was 27 stone when he died at 65 years of age.of my 3 sisters one is currently in hospital having an operation to help her mobility and will walk with difficulty shortly . two sisters have lost their mobility and are now in care --one is a  retired secondary teacher aged 70 who taught in Madrid for 30 years and came home and worked for the dept of justice  for a few years as she had a number a languages .my other sister was a lecturer in DCU  and aged 66 has lost her mobility and is wheelchair bound -- weight has played a big factor --DNA has played a big factor also.I went swimming in Gaeta in Italy some weeks ago and in my 30s/40s I used to swim 5 miles ish costal swimming in a wet suit and loved it .I thought I was in my 30s in Italy and had to swim with flippers  back home  against a slight current for 2.5  miles and I strained muscles which had not been used for years and they brought me to hospital the following day and told me I had a lumbar hernia .I totally fucked up my wife's holiday and I screamed  as quietly as possible when lifting my self in and out of a car and remained in the car on some occasions while my wife walked alone  at various tourist spots.I learned what the loss of mobility is and it prompted a full and frank discussion when I got home and I undertook no matter what to get a remedy to my weight .</blockquote>
