Referring to these folk as labourers does't help their percieved staus either, there can be a lot of skill and dedication involved, caring for stock and rearing the young is not a job for everyone, and the vastly more complex machines that are out there require a reasonable intelligenge if the best is to be got from them. They can be hugely productive in the right hands.Beef farms are very often small family units run on a part time basis, so depending on how profitability is defined, there is no surprise in that many don't meet government expectations.</blockquote>
