Anyway that sixth point is intriguing, that somehow the main parties are secretly sponsoring some Independent candidates. I have heard this elsewhere which I is why I think it is worth mentioning.No this has nothing to do with 'vote splitting' which hopefully I addressed before, but it is about visibility and the usual powers that be model of putting marionettes in front of you all the time to hog your attention, which has the effect of pushing further into the background the real candidates.Anyway the powers that be don't care at all which of the various wings of the uniparty anybody votes for, which is all the parties represented in the current Dail. But they can see that the penny is dropping with some of the electorate, so they just groom and throw into the race a few Independents into all the constituencies to hoover up the 'independent' vote? Because they will get secret funding they will crowd out any other Independent in peoples' consciousness, i.e. they will be on every pole, every add in newspapers, facebook twitter etc?So as a hypothetical example (because I genuinely have no inside knowledge here, only speculation and questions) I just wonder about Noel French in the Meath West constituency. He ran for Fine Gael the last time and then left the party about a year ago, for reasons that even people who know him personally, don't seem to know (I asked them a few months ago).Then as a 'last minute' thing he joins this race and the day after that announcement (which I followed because it came up as a paid facebook add on my feed) even in our isolated rural area he seemed to be on every second telegraph pole. Now as I travel around a bit I am amazed to realise that he has about 3 different designs of posters up in this area (which is about 35 miles from his base in Trim) which seemed to have been put up in different waves during this campaign. Meanwhile he has quite a high profile in local media, and this household anyway has got two different sets of leaflets from him.So I wonder is Casey right here, is something afoot in this area? Bottom line be very careful who you vote for even among Independents, you don't want to realise after the election that these people are just uniparty members out of uniform.</blockquote>
