I think a core reason why there is such bitterness in the whole Trump versus Biden or Kamala Harris thing is not because real meaningful decisions (Obama actually did more to tackle illegal immigration than Trump did) are at stake but because by supporting one side or the other people feel they are saying what type of person they are very much like teenagers engaging in subculture styles or the more savage Nordies supporting Glasgow soccer teams, and therefore they feel an attack on their candidate is an attack on them personally. Political arrangements are not ends in themselves but means to an end- viz the securing as much as possible of the common good. There is I think an error of many people now to make democracy an end, a good, in and of itself and than of course you also have people who do the same for Monarchy which I believe is equally erroneous.</p></blockquote><p></p>
