I was going to ask this question on another thread but decided better against doing so.

Was Ben Gilroy actually a "Freeman on the Land"? Someone told me so but they could have just been repeating a rumour.

. In the US they called it the “Sovereign Citizens Movement”. - Freeman Ireland basically took this and localised it.

I could be wrong but I think that it is also sometimes referred to in the United States as the "Freeman on the Land" movement. So far as it makes sense it makes sense within the history of the Settler Colonization of North America which does not really apply here at all. Interesting that they did not adopt "First Dail Legitimism" in order to justify their antics.

You'll find a lot of Dan's bullshit like minting of silver coins with his mug on it and general goldbuggery coming out of that movement, too. (And much more of Dan's general fuckwittery on here actually has its evolutionary origins in that movement). I think we're going to need a bigger petri dish.

Nonsense- humanity as far as we have records going back has felt universally almost a primordial draw to gold and silver and connected with this seen in them a natural carrier of economic wealth.

i knew one prominent FREEMAN OF THE LAND who was a truck scrapman renowned for his ""integrity"" .
this man knew that there are a good percentage of people who owe money are con artists like himself and there are also the gullible and the confused and the simply hopelessly incompetent .
this constituency he mined ruthlessly by inserting himself between and INTO the title of the property as a belligerent/warrior for the people about to be dispossessed .
while he had no legal training or anything of value to contribute --the judges would frequently to protect the people being saddled by this chancer and rode around Ireland,
would then rule cautiously to prevent further legal complications for both the bank and the victims as the professional thing to do for a judge is not to lose the head and hang draw and quarter the chancer/interloper/criminal in his court room and provide the firewood to burn all around him in the next court case .
this appeared as legal timidity in the face of a true warrior and it confused some people into thinking this FREEMAN had extraordinary powers almost legal witchcraft and this legal witchcraft would protect them .
when the shit really hit the fan and they found it was much worse than they had imagined NOW they and the bank both had to buy the chancer out of the title deeds in order to get good enough title to actually sell the property .
nice work when you can get it .

I remember when i first heard of Gilroy about 15yrs ago, he used to pop up on RTE tv and TV3. It's hard to believe that such an "alt personality" used to be able to get on mainstream media easily

Wow that is interesting. Sort of shows how actually different in many ways things were before Trump came along and spooked a lot of people with power and influence as well as their flying monkeys through out the West.

I wish I had minted a lot more. Minimum orders are 250 for about $15000. Next ones will be The Children of Lir
i knew Oisin kelly who did the children of Lir in the garden of remembrance and the Larkin statue and others .
his studio was in the glasshouse attached to his home in Firhouse in Dublin.
he gave me a plaster of paris study of a swan and it was too beautiful and i got an owl instead from him.
his house was used as a discreet /trusted /private post box between Yeats and Maude Gonne and others .
Oisin was church of Ireland and very trusting and a very moral person in every way --you would wonder how he managed this world he was such a good man .
he had manners from 2 centuries ago --his daughter Siobhan Tullach taught in kilkenny model school for 30 years and is now retired .
i hope you can capture the children of lir.

It would be a noble thing. Thank you for the encouragement
