I am reading now that fully half of Steensons votes are transferred to Monk and he is tipped to get the last seat. We shall see.

The Green wipeout is certainly a major event in Irish politics
It happened before when the country hit the shit during the 2007 crash, never underestimate the greed of politicians who walk off with ministerial pensions knowing the Irish electorate have short memories.

They will be back next time around

No, they are done if eliminated as seems likely, the global warming scare is done and in 5 years, when we still are freezing and now destitute, nobody will be worried about the sea rising

I don't see how, FFG will find some new gullible power hungry fools to prop them up for another 4 years.

After seeing what happened the greens????
Do you think they care?

Labour are already talking to the Social Democrats to be the junior partners in a FFG government.

5 years of being in government holding key positions with massive ministerial pensions are all these feckers care about.

Look at Eamonn Ryan, happy as a pig in shit.

And there is so much to ponder, not least of all, will the IFP candidates jettison Hermann, who is a liability imo.

As I am constantly saying, money matters hugely in modern Irish elections, and that's doled out with massive largess by the state to the established parties (as you'd expect in a Communist state). These parties also have full time people now paid by the state, not just the TDs and Councillors. If you are a TD and fall out with them you'd have to pay for all this yourself and you mightn't be able to.

Violet Anne Wynne topped the poll in Clare the last time standing for Sinn Fein. She fell out with her, of course completely corrupt, party bosses, ran as an Independent and is now projected to get a total of 286 votes.

Well, in history has there ever been a better example of what you say if she is left with 300 votes

Thats an interesting count Anderson, I would definitely say the overall Nationalist could be considered as growing quite a lot there. Whatever about how really nationalist it would be, there might be a seat there between Aontu, Indepedent Ireland, Liberty, IFP and National Party. Its one to watch!

I must say that gives you hope. As well as us not doing so badly, the established ones there are well down really. Brendan Smith is a big hitter there but is only on about 7%, Matt Carthy, with a massive profile, on 14, and the Greens on 1% (Val has got nearly double their vote).

Ben Gilroy got 407 and is one the f four eliminated in the first report count completed. He should forget about beating ng a Chief but would have a future as a member of an as yet non existent real patriot party

There is a hugely low turnout in working class Dublin, it seems, why? I am getting a little suspicious, if anybody was rigging things they would just 'lose' the votes, so you would have an artificially low turnout.
