MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. More than 300 facilities of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have been damaged since last October, the country’s Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.

"Throughout the last heating season, which continued between October 2022 and March 2023, there have been 271 strikes on the power grid. By now, their number has grown significantly, to more than 300," he told the Rada television.

The head of the country’s national energy company Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudritsky, admitted on October 6 that Ukraine would be unable to repair all damaged energy facilities before the start of the upcoming winter season.

According to Reuters, the country’s energy infrastructure has sustained serious damage. According to the United Nations, Ukraine’s power generation capacities, previously estimated at 37 GW, have more than halved since February 2022 and are now at 19GW. The Kiev School of Economy’s research center estimates the direct damage dealt to the country’s energy infrastructure by June 2023 to be at $8.8 billion.

Exactly. Myles has always provided good humoured, sometimes jaw dropping posts, he often wound us all up
getting the mix right and rarely insulted anyone. He helped keep this site going while the mob on Pish, P.ie and Pisles poured ridicule on our efforts. Once they destroyed their own sites they came in here where they made

You cannot compare the economies of countries like Russia, China or North Korea with those of the west.

These countries can survive on very little and invest heavily into their military. Before Ukraine, Russia held
large amounts of US bonds most of which were seized. Russian residents held 12.5 billion $. Figures on
what the government held are harder to obtain. That money is all gone, grabbed by the US. I learned
that Russians grow a lot of their own food in gardens etc. They are healthier and love the out doors.

They sent the money to Iran to bribe them to stop building nuclear weapons. That was counter productive
and ended by Trump. Iran today does not need US cash, it is becoming oil rich.

There is no such thing as an ignore feature for a bomber of new posters or abusive posts. If there were we
could have Gowl and Doxxie James or Ollie here and use that feature to deal with them. Your are as bad and worse than they were/are.

There is no doubt Ukraine's situation has got worse and interest in the west is waning. It is the same as Covid
which started with a big push and whittled out. New events such as France loosing Africa and this Israel escalation
forces the west to realise there is more to the world than Ukraine.

Just in relation to the above the EU appears to be sweating a bit now that the US is no longer throwing money at Ukraine. It was easy enough to stand on Uncle Sam's coattails and scream abuse at Russia, but now that the US is backing off, Europe is going to find itself naked in front of the bear and there is an almost palatable sense of squeaky bums round at the commission -

"Despite the strong engagement of the Biden administration, it fuels uncertainty on future US support to this country," he wrote in a blog on the European External Action Service’s website.

According to him, "this development increases the EU's responsibility" in terms of providing assistance to Kiev.

Borrell said at a European Political Community in Granada, Spain, on Thursday that the EU would not be able to compensate for the lack of US assistance and Brussels expected Washington to reconsider its decision and resume support for Kiev.
