Avdiivka has been captured. That is, all of it.

Where's Jerry?

Sounds like the Ukrainian army is totally screwed up with nutters in charge, and that chain extends all the way back to the US.
Let's hope for all those combatants.
The end is finally in sight.
Butcher Boris and his puppet masters have been responsible for hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths and injuries.

The Russians aren't the good guys, neither are the Neocons.

Convention (III) relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War. Geneva, 12 August 1949.

Article 13 - Humane treatment of prisoners

Prisoners of war must at all times be humanely treated. Any unlawful act or omission by the Detaining Power causing death or seriously endangering the health of a prisoner of war in its custody is prohibited, and will be regarded as a serious breach of the present Convention.

In particular, no prisoner of war may be subjected to physical mutilation or to medical or scientific experiments of any kind which are not justified by the medical, dental or hospital treatment of the prisoner concerned and carried out in his interest.

Likewise, prisoners of war must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity.

Measures of reprisal against prisoners of war are prohibited.

Article 17 - Questioning of prisoners

Every prisoner of war, when questioned on the subject, is bound to give only his surname, first names and rank, date of birth, and army, regimental, personal or serial number, or failing this, equivalent information.

If he willfully infringes this rule, he may render himself liable to a restriction of the privileges accorded to his rank or status.

...

No physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion, may be inflicted on prisoners of war to secure from them information of any kind whatever. Prisoners of war who refuse to answer may not be threatened, insulted, or exposed to any unpleasant or disadvantageous treatment of any kind.

Is the end of Ukraine's resistance nigh?

According to multiple sources coming from Ukraine, Russia and EU intelligence the reason that Avdiivka fell so rapidly is because the units stationed at the coke plant refused to carry out their orders. They fled when they were ordered to stay and fight. One can hardly blame them, it would have been suicide. Mutiny seems to be on the rise, and rapidly accelerating.

Fighting in Avdikka since September and that Coking plant has barely any damage?
It actually did sustain a lot of damage, but we're talking an extremely well-fortified structurally engineered building designed to withstand and constrain explosions, specifically. It was the right choice for AFU when deciding on a HQ/primary base of ops in Avdiivka.

Russia Says NATO Troops, Disguised As Mercenaries, Control Air Defenses In Ukraine

Tyler Durden's Photo

The Russian military has made the accusation that NATO troops are actually manning and directly overseeing Ukraine's advanced anti-air defense systems which were provided by the West.
The charge comes after weeks of the Kremlin saying that French mercenaries have been positioned in the city of Kharkiv, which sits across from Belgorod - a Russian border area subject of persistent mortar and rocket attacks.

A retired US general is scathing about Russia's performance in Ukraine

  • Ben Hodges, a retired US general, slammed the Russian military over its lack of progress in Ukraine.

  • At a time when Ukraine is struggling badly to defend itself, he said there's "too much negativism."

  • Hodges said the West should "body slam" Russia in order to defend a young democracy.

  • "their navy sucks, their air force sucks, and they've lost half a million soldiers."

My wife drew my attention to this story. I dont know why. I think she meant that its significant in the West vs Russia story

that has to be it

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCvxOZtpuuw

It does underline the fact the we in the west have been assured that technologically advanced weapon systems are keeping us safe while in fact the technology is aging (Trident is over 30 years old) and being displaced by a new form of warfare which does not rely on hugely complex and expensive machines. Trident is there in case of nuclear attack, a danger that is receding, despite the neocons hubris, because Russia has found other ways of waging war and no doubt China will be thinking along the same lines. There is no way we could match China's drone production levels.

The West admits to a 1000 killed or captured so the ral figure is likely 3000.

Looking forward to see where the new line is by this weekend, after a week.

Moscow is confirming what we already know, Avdeyevka was a rout. This is significant as it is the first large scale breakdown of the Ukrainian army. Up until now the desertions and surrendering has been at a low and occasional level, as far as we know, with Azov troops shooting those in retreat, this time that didn't work. Maybe the Nazi faction itself fled the scene, it would be interesting to get some detail on how the collapse came about.

On February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to Vladimir Putin that Russian forces have taken full control over Avdeyevka. The Russian Defense Ministry underscored that the Ukrainian retreat was chaotic. Avdeyevka is located West of Yasinovataya, Ukrainian forces used it to shell nearby Donetsk and Makeyevka. According to the Defense Ministry, the Russian forces continue offensive actions on DPR territory.
