Message: <blockquote data-quote="BIG FAT HOOR" data-source="post: 145530" data-attributes="member: 5541">THANKS for those thinking about this I have told the BlackRock clinic that I will take a cancellation as you can be waiting 3 months to sort this and I have now got a date for the 18th of November and its a Tuesday --they tell me I cannot drive for 10 days following and the hospital stay is 2 days following . I am currently technically described horribly on all paperwork as MORBIDLY OBESE  and combined with my age this is not a huge gamble but a little gamble --I hope to have my affairs in order prior to nov 18th  and I am very happy to be doing what I am doing as I promised my wife I would attend to this problem in a real way and I tried various remedy's and all failed . yesterday I had a very interesting experience a first for me a gastroscopy . which involves a Indian man telling me to open wide and he shoves quickly a  large plastic flange which is used to allow the surgeon Mr Achille Mastrosimone who is from Palermo   to explore your stomach using a fibreoptic tv camera  and the cable zooms up and down your throat  and he shouts at the nurse/assistant  to  occasionally pump me with air to expand the stomach in order that he view the inside of a football sort of. this is of course accompanied by numerous farts from me and much gagging as some material is blown up to my throat and I had a spray of local anaesthetic down my throat and a unit for oxygen in my nose .I decided not to avail of the sedative  not that I am hardy but I would not trouble anyone to take a day off to drive me home as they are very strict and need the phone number of your driver and they contact him to make sure he exists . take the sedative if you can as it is not offered for the fun of it.I am interviewed on thurs next by zoom call by a psychiatrist I suppose to see am I entertaining myself with this surgery or do I actually need it -- however the VHI will not pay for the surgery unless the shrink says ok first.that's all the news so far and I will do a tot of all the costs for you as the operation arrives but I have shelled out approx. 1000 so far and I have to pay 4000 in a lump sum on thurs next for aftercare .which I hope I will be in a position to avail of . the vhi only pay a max of 125 for a consultant  however  some of the consultants  fees are 400 ish so far and they pay for the physical operation . that's all the news so far will send you a photo of a beached whale shortly.</blockquote>
