Rakowski was quite the polyglot and so the actual questioning was in French, with the text smuggled later into Spain and translated there and later into English. It was also witnessed by a Dr Jose Landowsky, who secretly administered some drugs to Rakowski to help him talk freely. A few quotes might give a flavour here of this famous and important text, which was called ‘Red Symphony’ in its Spanish edition and the title has stuck since:</p></blockquote><p></p>
