There is this old fashioned notion called innocent until proven guilty. It is not up to the police to do that.
They are not there to decide upon the guilt or innocence of a suspect, only to bring the suspect to a court where that may be decided snd the punishment decided by a judge.
No more force than is necessary to restrain an individual should be used. Certainly, there should be no gratuitous violence directed at the person, and resisting arrest is an offence in itself.

There's one a week been done in the courts for being an actual criminal in their spare time .....last week it was a blonde airhead who stole some of the captured weed for her boyfriend and was then found rotten drunk upstairs
That's something of a generalization and I'm sure that there are some rotten eggs, and that the riot squad, or whatever it's called, is picked for being a bunch of B'stards. However, I have also come across some humility and helpfulness while at the same time I find myself at the wrong end of idleness and incompetence.
