A serious dispute, which had been rumbling on for about half a year it seems, has exploded between two members of the broadly Irish Nationalist viewpoint in Brussels. Hermann Kelly, who works in the European Parliament as a press officer previously for Nigel Farage and now for another MEP, and is of course the leader of the Irish Freedom Party in Ireland, and Thomas O'Reilly, who works as a journalist for a 'right wing' - for the want of a better word! - organisation there and who is also associated with the theburkean.ie, a rival and similar website if you like to ours here, have had 'words' to put it mildly!

But amazingly this has culminated in Hermann putting up the above tweet, which seems to be him admitting and even boasting that he has tried to get Thomas sacked from his employment. Whatever about the rights and wrongs of the dispute I think a lot of people would find the practice of seeking to get a young recently married journalist sacked out of his employment, very distasteful, and I wonder if, on mature recollection, he would like to withdraw that tweet.

Incidentally Thomas O'Reilly's employer has confirmed the 'incessant' attempts Hermann has made to try and get him sacked.

The Burkean I don't think is similar to here in that it is a magazine so to speak while here is a discussion forum- I don't think that there is antagonism between the two but I could be mistaken. The Burkean does have some high level writing and analysis. Vindictiveness can be an extremely destructive trait- and especially so in small political movements under pressure.

We are not in competition with anyone. At best we are a smaller alternative to Politics.ie

On the matter at hand, it is the lowest of the low to try to impact a persons employment. Either shup or stand fist to fist.

this is a crudenistic leftist cissyish tactic and if it is an it appears, then most of “our side” would not tolerate it at all imo.

So, I would need to know more and hear both sides of the story, because sometimes someone me deserve what they get as well.

but the tweet is on the face of it very damaging.

Well one fact is clear, and not denied by Hermann in any way, and that is that he did 'incessantly' try to get Thomas sacked. As you say, I also regard that as the lowest of the low and I wonder are IFP members standing over that practice?
