Very good. In a few places duo is better n error and some words like “mar” are mispronounced

can anyone tell me if i have a sign which i am required under law to display publicly .
is the sign legal in Irish --do i have to have an English translation beside it.
 
Good question. The am guessing that only Irish is fine with the possible exception of a legal notice to the public. But I do not know!!!!
 
The languages is very impressive, especially from that time period

I am exactly half way through section two with twenty lessons done and to celebrate, I was checking out these books and am intrigued by this one about Ceallach, as every Kelly is descended from one particular chief called Ceallach later, O Ceallaigh.

This is inspiring me to press ahead with my pub idea
 
There is a group on fb that had 9 people turn up on The Hill of Tara to talk Irish and to learn. Three are native speakers

you share your name with an illustrious relative arleen foster late of the DUP who incredibly is a Kelly from eniskellin and i will thank you to use her full title --BARONESS FOSTER OF AGHADRUMSEE .
The Irish translation of O Ceallaigh is Bright head or contention or strife .

40 lessons in section 2 so I should be in Section 3 by year end
 
Section 3 by year end indeed. I am watch Spanish videos and one of my kids is learning japanese so I am learning the alphabet and a few words. It has 3 alphabets
 
I have made it to section 3 well before year end as it turns out.

Section 1 has 1units.
section. 2 has 40 units
And now
Section 3 has 10 units.

So hopefully this will be done in short order. So now I will cover the whole thing in short videos of about 7 minutes. That will be hundreds of videos of course

Duolingo has about 1700 irish words.
 
That would s pretty impressive. They might need to spend some time with connemara people to roughen up the accent on a few words
 
Only a couple of more days now and I will have the duolingo course done. Then I will do Mango and Pimsleur in short order.

and I will put Duolingo into videos as it is very difficult for a regular person to do it
 
So, I finished the Irish duolingo course. What happens then is you have a refresh each day of about 20 words or so , and after that, you can do nothing I guess til the next day.

The course has drastly improved my Irish.
you end up with a vocab of about 1700 words and the present, padt and future tenses good. Other tenses not good.

So you would need more. I suggest Mango, which has free Irish. I will buy a year of pimsleur as well shortly. Maybe rosetta stone as well.
But I will do mango first.

And mango offers Irish and a few more languages for free, otherwise it is $8a month
 
I'm in favour of learning the Gaelic language. While the English are forgetting their old dialects of medieval English as they are torn down by the Jews the Irish should invest in learning Gaeilge & also medieval dialects of Gaeilge.
 
Does anyone know what year being fluent ‘as gaeilge’ was removed as being compulsory for an Gardai?

How are you progressing on the duolingo or did you get stuck. I must start doing my videos this weekend
 
GRMA for bringing this thread back to my attention. If Ireland is actually lost now, as many have suggested, then the best we can hope for is to form a clan and hope for the best. And using Irish should be a pivotal asset.

I finished the duolingo course but now must redo it as a refresher
