One way we know that we are living in a Communist system, is that we have a very strict escalator and de-escalator system in place, for art, politics or learning generally that they don't like versus what they do . You will find this everywhere, people promoted by the media and the state, whether it be on RTE, Irish Times etc etc, versus some just struggling along with the odd youtube video they did themselves or whatever.
So as an example of this I thought I would show you some artists heavily promoted by RTE. This is the Mary Wallopers, who were multiple times, I think, on the Late Late Show and were one of the leading acts at Glastonbury recently as well. While I suppose they are competent in playing some Irish ballads they certainly don't exceed many at that genre in my opinion, and don't at all justify the hype. But hype there certainly is, the Irish Independent calls them: "the finest Irish folk-punk proposition since the Pogues"

I think their name derives from sneering at the Catholic Church and certainly, especially in the early years, they sang a lot about "their loathing of the Catholic Church," as the previous link describes. Coincidentally, this is very much the establishment view in Ireland. Also they are echoing here another very establishment view, coincidentally, as they disrupted an anti-lockdown protest and sneered at 'conspiracy theorists' (hence the tinfoil hat):
(If you click on this video it should open ok.)
On the otherhand then, this as a possible example of the de-escalator system. Here is Daoiri Farrell, a genuine traditional Irish signer and as such not much promoted by the powers that be in the Irish state and media:
Its something to watch for but really its very noticeable in all areas of modern Ireland
