For a long time this market has been massive but until recently it was clandestine while as now it is beginning to come into the open. I have been trying to hunt down a particular issue of Der Sturmer as a present for a Jewish friend of mine who collects that type of thing and I nonchalantly mentioned this fact to a Gaelic close accquaintance and she was reacted with utter horror and believed that I must be trying to engage in some sadistic anti-Jewish anti-Semitic jape in extremely bad taste. I was not able to convince her otherwise. The more I have thought about this though the more I have seen where she was coming from- it is a rather counter-intuitive phenomena.
A few years ago now a Dinner Set which had been used by Hitler himself came up for auction in Belfast. I wanted to get it for my sister and the kids- I really liked the idea of them sitting down to savage Prod supper fare with cutlery not just from the Third Reich but ones that had been used by the Furher himself and his inner circle. However the "organized Jewish community" complained loudly and the set was withdrawn from auction. I heard that afterwards some Jews pressured the auctioneer into donating the set to them but I am not certain this is true. I have an awful feeling that the Dinner Set ended up in roc's mansion.
