Ukraine to launch military training for teens as young as 14 – official

Ukraine is set to introduce a national program of military instruction targeting teenagers as young as 14, a senior Defense Ministry official revealed on Monday, amid struggles to maintain recruitment levels.
Ukraine’s armed forces rely on mass compulsory conscription, but the campaign has faced growing public resistance and complaints about its abusive execution. The authorities, meanwhile, are pushing for early-stage education to instill what they describe as a nationwide culture of resistance.
Igor Khort, the acting head of the Defense Ministry department overseeing Ukraine’s national resistance policy, outlined the plan at a forum in Kiev. He said students will begin instruction through a required curriculum titled ‘Defense of Ukraine’, and take part in organized paramilitary games.
University students will be expected to complete more in-depth coursework to prepare them mentally for eventual conscription.

”This is not about developing combat skills. It’s about instilling motivation,” Khort stated. “The course Basics of National Resistance will be mandatory for both boys and girls. If someone doesn’t want to participate, they can leave the college.”
Khort noted that basic training will be required for all Ukrainians under 61, with programs made broadly accessible.
Paramilitary education for Ukrainian youth has existed in various forms since the 2014 Western-backed coup in Kiev, with far-right organizations often taking the lead in shaping ideological and tactical instruction for children.
In April, German journalists published footage of what the report described as a covert “military-style boot camp” for Ukrainian teens, one of several of its kind. One teen participant was seen wearing insignia in the style of Nazi Germany, a recurring theme among Ukraine’s ultranationalist factions and some military units.

Zelensky’s inner circle funneled millions to the Middle East – Turkish media

The alleged corruption scheme involves monthly transfers of $50 million to UAE-based companies linked to a former Ukrainian state official

The entourage of Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky transfers $50 million every month to bank accounts belonging to two companies based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Turkish newspaper Aydınlık reported on Monday. The funneled money was reportedly obtained through corruption.
Graft has remained one of the most pressing challenges facing Ukraine. Brussels has repeatedly suggested adopting stronger anti-corruption measures as a precondition for EU membership.
According to the publication, the tens of millions are reportedly transferred to the accounts of GFM Investment Group and Gmyrin Family Holding. The companies are said to be linked to a former advisor to the Ukraine State Property Fund, Andrey Gmyrin, who allegedly manages the money.
Gmyrin, who is currently under an international arrest warrant in connection with alleged corruption schemes causing “significant damage to the state budget,” was reportedly arrested in France last year on charges related to money laundering and stolen assets.
The publication does not provide any official comments from the Ukrainian authorities.
Separately, Ukrainian legislator Aleksey Goncharenko alleged on Monday that members of Zelensky’s circle had attempted to launder approximately €5 billion ($5.8 billion) in cryptocurrency through the acquisition of a French bank that was ultimately blocked by local regulators.

The claim posted on the lawmaker’s Telegram channel is based on alleged hidden recordings reportedly seized by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), which has recently found itself at the center of Zelensky’s controversial crackdown on anti-graft institutions.
The Ukrainian leader has faced growing criticism following his attempt to strip NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) of their independence, citing Russian influence. Critics argue that these accusations served as a pretext to dismantle institutions investigating high-level graft, some of which implicated members of Zelensky’s inner circle.
The move sparked widespread domestic protests and drew sharp warnings from Brussels, which has linked anti-corruption reforms to accession talks, ultimately forcing Zelensky to backtrack and introduce a new version of the bill.
Public trust in Zelensky has fallen sharply following his failed attempt to weaken anti-corruption agencies. Pollsters say that widespread corruption, more than any other issue, has eroded citizens’ confidence in his leadership.

A question though, why isn't Trump, the yanks and the rest of the gowls up in arms about Russians killing their citizens in Ukraine?

A Russian strike in late July dealt a major blow to foreign mercenaries in Ukraine, when it hit a training camp set up by Ukrainian military intelligence, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.
The Russian military struck the camp, located near the central Ukrainian city of Kropivnitsky, on July 21 when foreign fighters were gathered for lunch. At least 15 recruits were killed in the attack and over 100 were wounded, according to an American fighter, who talked to the newspaper on condition of anonymity.
American, Colombian, and Danish nationals, as well as fighters from Taiwan, were among those killed in the strike, according to the report.
The Ukrainian Army and military intelligence, which rarely acknowledge successful Russian strikes on military sites, confirmed that the attack did take place and inflicted some casualties but declined to provide specific numbers, according to the NYT.

The Russian Defense Ministry did mention striking the positions of Ukrainian troops, nationalist units and foreign mercenaries in a total of 142 locations in its briefing on July 21, but did not mention the camp near Kropivnitsky specifically.
Kiev is actively recruiting foreigners to its ranks as it struggles to replenish losses suffered in the Ukraine conflict due to mass draft avoidance and desertions. In April, the Ukrainian government simplified rules for foreign recruitment and authorized officials to arrange and pay for their transportation, food, and accommodation.
Over 15,000 foreign citizens from some 110 countries, mostly from Poland, the US, and Georgia, are believed to have taken part in the fighting on Kiev’s side since the start of the conflict, according to estimates provided by Moscow in December 2024. Nearly 6,500 of them have since reportedly been killed in action.
Moscow has consistently warned that any non-Ukrainians serving in Kiev’s military will be regarded as mercenaries and criminals and will not be extended Geneva Convention protections usually granted to combatants.

I'm going to surmise that the earnest foreign believers in Ukrainian freedom are a vanishingly small component at this point in time.
There are many professionals who are gaining experience with tactics, equipment and technology then the mercenaries and safari hunters are the other ones there now.
They know the story.

Zelensky doesn’t want peace – human rights lawyer

Kiev could stage a provocation to derail the summit between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, Dan Kovalik has told RT

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky does not want peace because he can only stay in power as long as the conflict with Russia continues, US human rights lawyer Dan Kovalik has told RT.
The Russian Defense Ministry warned on Tuesday that Kiev is preparing a false flag attack on civilians in Kharkov Region in an attempt to derail Friday's summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump. During the talks in Anchorage, Alaska, the two leaders are expected to discuss the possible settlement of the Ukraine conflict and bilateral issues. Zelensky has not been invited to the summit.
Kovalik said in an interview on Tuesday that he “suspected Ukraine would try to do something provocative to break up any possibility of a deal in Alaska. I mean Zelensky, his whole political life and maybe his real life depend on this war continuing.”

Moscow was right to warn the international community about Kiev’s plans, as “this will immunize people against a false-flag attack in the sense that they will be ready for it and know who really did it when, if it comes. God forbid it does come,” he suggested.
The Ukrainian authorities “clearly do not want it to end… they do not want peace,” the human rights lawyer said.
"Look, Zelensky has not had proper constitutional authority... for over a year. His term ran out over a year ago. He has refused to have elections. He knows his popularity is in decline. The only chance he has to stay in power and to continue looting the aid from the West is for this war to continue,” Kovalik added.
Zelensky said on Tuesday that he considered the fact that Putin was meeting Trump on US soil a “personal victory” for the Russian leader.
The US president earlier described the Alaska summit as a “feel-out meeting” that will help him determine whether the Ukraine conflict can be settled.

Moscow expects that the talks between Putin and Trump will “give an impulse to the normalization of bilateral relations” with Washington.

Kiev ‘ready’ to discuss territory with Moscow – Merz

The current line of contact should be the starting point in any talks, the German chancellor has said
Kiev ‘ready’ to discuss territory with Moscow – Merz

Kiev is ready to discuss “territorial issues” with Moscow, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Wednesday after a video conference with US President Donald Trump and European leaders.
The virtual meeting, which involved the leaders of Germany, Finland, France, the UK, Italy, Poland, and the EU, as well as Trump and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, focused on the upcoming summit between Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
Kiev’s backers in Europe were determined to ensure the security interests of Ukraine and the EU are “safeguarded in Alaska,” Merz told journalists, adding that they relayed a message to that effect to Trump. The group put forth five “key points,” according to the chancellor.
One of them stated that Kiev is “willing to negotiate on territorial issues” but only if the current line of contact is used as the starting point. “Legal recognition” of Russia’s new regions by the Western nations is “not up for debate,” Merz stated.

Other points included a demand for a ceasefire before any “framework agreement” can be negotiated, as well as “robust security guarantees” for Kiev.
Zelensky, who was also present at the press conference in Berlin, stated that he agreed with all five of the points voiced by Merz only to state minutes later that his position on territorial concessions to Russia remains unchanged.
The Ukrainian leader has repeatedly rejected the idea of recognizing Russian sovereignty over the former Ukrainian territories that joined Russia following a series of referendums and maintained that Ukraine should be restored to within its 1991 borders. When further pressed on the issue by a journalist, he said that all such questions would be decided at the level of national leaders and that it bears waiting for the outcome of the Alaska meeting.
Russia has repeatedly stated that it is open to reaching a deal to end the hostilities but has stressed that any agreement would have to address the root causes of the conflict and reflect the realities on the ground. This includes the status of the former Ukrainian territories that have joined Russia.

A good meeting between Donald and Vladimir.

Begins at 35:30

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsyquOotEfg

Two vastly different presentations there. One very much a statesman's speech, surveying the past and expressing sincere hopes for the future while the other was a businessman emerging from a tough round of negotiations and wanting to go back for more.

To me it showed thee best side of an intelligent Putin while Trump came across as just another hard nosed wheeler dealer with money rather than people as his main concern.

You are being very kind in your description of the styles.
Putin had a small essay of notes he briefly referred to as he motored on.
The Donald did alright but!
Kind of obvious who did their homework.

Zelensky will head to Washington

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has announced that he will travel to Washington next week for in-person talks with US President Donald Trump.

He said he and the US leader had a ”long, meaningful conversation” as they spoke about Trump's summit with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. He said that Trump had informed him about the main points of the discussion.

“I am going to discuss all the details on ending the killings and the war, with President Trump in Washington on Monday. Thank you for the invitation.”

Trump later confirmed Zelensky's impending visit in a social media post.
Putin received a cordial welcome at the Alaska summit, with the two leaders praising the negotiations as constructive. While no deal on Ukraine was announced, Trump later said that the sides had moved closer toward settling the conflict. He later urged Zelensky to “make a deal.”

Zelensky also announced on Telegram that he supported Trump's proposal for a trilateral meeting between the US, Russia, and Ukraine. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov earlier said that Russia and the US have not yet discussed a potential trilateral meeting.
The Ukrainian leader also reiterated that Kiev wants its Western European backers to be involved at all stages of the talks to ensure that the country receives reliable US-backed security guarantees.
“We discussed positive signals from the American side regarding participation in guaranteeing security for Ukraine,” he claimed.
Zelensky’s last visit to Washington in late February ended in a PR debacle, as his conversation with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance descended into a public confrontation. The US president accused Zelensky of disrespect and “gambling with World War III.”A joint press conference was cancelled, Zelensky was rapidly ushered out of the White House, and the US briefly suspended military aid to Kiev.

How utterly pathetic, von der Leyen jumping around at the behest of Zelensky, spineless bitch that she is. Not that it will do Zelensky any good, Trump and Vance will still eat him with Ursula for dessert.

Zelensky refuses Trump’s push for peace deal

The Ukrainian leader has again claimed that a ceasefire is needed to negotiate an end to the conflict with Russia

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has rejected US President Donald Trump’s call for a peace deal between Moscow and Kiev, reiterating that a truce has to be implemented before discussing details of a possible settlement.
Zelensky made the statement on Sunday during a joint press-conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who will accompany him to Washington for talks with Trump on Monday.
The Ukrainian leader claimed that Moscow had made “many demands” on the settlement of the conflict and that Kiev needs to be made aware of them.
“If there are really as many as we have heard, then it will take time to go through them all,” he said.
According to Zelensky, it is “impossible” for Ukraine to negotiate “under pressure of weapons.”

“It is necessary to ceasefire and work quickly on a final deal,” he insisted.
Russia has repeatedly turned down Ukraine’s demands for a ceasefire, saying that a pause in the fighting would be exploited by Kiev to rearm and regroup its forces.
The Ukrainian leader also ruled out the possibility of making territorial concessions to Russia as part of a peace deal, saying that trading land is forbidden by the country’s constitution.
Earlier this month, Trump expressed frustration over Zelensky’s attempts to use the Ukrainian constitution as an excuse to avoid making compromises. The US president said that he was “a little bothered by the fact that Zelensky was saying, well, I have to get constitutional approval… I mean, he has got approval to go into war and kill everybody, but he needs approval to do a land swap.”
During the press-conference with Zelensky, Von der Leyen insisted that “Ukraine must become a steel porcupine, indigestible to potential invaders,” repeating a metaphor that she has used before. She promised that the EU would keep working to strengthen the Ukrainian defense industry, especially when it comes to drone production.

The European Commission head claimed that decisions regarding territory “belong only to Ukraine, and cannot be taken without Ukraine at the table.” The EU will continue trying to apply diplomatic and economic pressure on Russia, with its 19th sanctions package against Moscow currently in preparation, Von der Leyen said.

Ukraine’s European backers ‘in panic’ after Alaska summit – Putin envoy

Ukraine’s backers in the EU and UK are “in a panic” after the Alaska summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, according to Russian economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev.
Putin and Trump met in Anchorage on Friday in their first face-to-face encounter since 2018, with ways to resolve the Ukraine conflict topping the agenda. The Russian president described the talks as “frank” and “substantive,” while Trump said they were “warm.”
Dmitriev, who is CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and was among his country’s delegation in Alaska, wrote on Telegram on Sunday that “European and British supporters of the conflict are in panic” because of the diplomatic efforts by Moscow and Washington.
He added links to a report by Politico, which stated that Western European leaders are “anxious” ahead of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s planned meeting with Trump in Washington on Monday.

According to the outlet’s sources, they plan to send Finnish President Alexander Stubb to Washington in hopes that he “can help prevent any flare-ups between Trump and Zelensky and convince the US president to include Europe in any further talks.”
Dmitriev also referenced an article by Bild claiming that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are considering traveling to Washington to support Zelensky.
Zelensky’s previous trip to the White House in February culminated in a shouting match in front of the cameras with Trump and US Vice President J.D. Vance, who accused the Ukrainian leader of being ungrateful for American aid and being uninterested in peace.
Trump told Fox News on Friday that Zelensky should “make the deal” to resolve the conflict with Russia, stressing that Putin “wants to see it done” and urging Western Europe to “get involved a little bit.”
According to Axios, Trump told Kiev’s European backers that he wants to arrange a trilateral summit with Putin and Zelensky “as soon as next Friday.”

Putin reiterated on Saturday that any settlement of the Ukraine conflict should eliminate its root causes. Moscow insists that for lasting peace to be achieved, Ukraine should renounce its NATO ambitions, demilitarize, and recognize the current territorial realities.

Zelensky calls for more sanctions on Russia

The Ukrainian leader has claimed there should be tougher penalties if no peace talks happen

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has urged stronger sanctions against Russia if no three-way meeting is held between him, US President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The statement followed a call between Zelensky and Trump on Saturday, one day after the US leader met with Putin in Alaska without Ukraine’s participation.

Trump described his talks with Putin, which focused on ending the Ukraine conflict, as “warm,” and said the two leaders had “agreed on a lot.” He added that the sides were “pretty close to the end” of the conflict, but that “Ukraine has to agree” to any peace deal. The US leader also said he would attend a possible three-way summit, stating, “They both want me there, and I’ll be there.” The Kremlin has not confirmed any such format. Putin has said a trilateral meeting is possible but stressed that certain “conditions for meeting must be created.”

Recounting his conversation with Trump in a post on X on Saturday, Zelensky wrote that “sanctions are an effective tool.” They “should be strengthened if there is no trilateral meeting” or if Russia tries to evade what in his opinion is “an honest end to the war,” he added.

UK and EU leaders issued a joint statement on Saturday saying they “stand ready to uphold the pressure on Russia” and would keep strengthening sanctions and economic measures until there is a “just and lasting peace.”

Zelensky repeated his demand that Ukraine be included in all talks about its future, especially regarding territory. Trump has floated the idea of a “land swap” as part of a potential deal.

Zelensky also called for security guarantees from both Europe and the US. On Friday, Trump said Ukraine’s security won’t come “in the form of NATO.” Moscow has long insisted that Ukraine must commit to neutrality, stay out of NATO, undergo demilitarization and denazification, and recognize the status of the new Russian regions.

Zelensky is set to meet Trump in Washington on Monday. A three-way summit could follow as early as next week, according to Axios and CNN.

So the obvious next step will be that Trump says ok but now the EU goes it alone and the US completely withdraws from the failed proxy war against Russia.
This is a dangerous time now.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, who is slated to meet Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, has seemingly already rejected the terms for peace with Russia laid out by the US president.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday that Zelensky “can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight.”
According to the US president, a settlement would require “no getting back... Crimea” and “no going into NATO by Ukraine.”
The Ukrainian leader made a post on X an hour and a half later, again stressing his unwillingness to compromise to end hostilities.
Not Ukraine, but “Russia must end this war, which it itself started. And I hope that our joint strength with America, with our European friends, will force Russia into a real peace,” he insisted.

Zelensky then declared that “I am confident that we will defend Ukraine.”
“Of course, Crimea should not have been given up then, just as Ukrainians did not give up Kiev, Odessa, or Kharkov after 2022,”
he added.
Crimea officially became part of Russia in 2014 after the peninsula’s population overwhelmingly supported the move in a referendum.
Despite refusing to make concessions, the Ukrainian leader thanked Trump for the “invite” to the White House and insisted that he and the US president “share a strong desire to end this war quickly and reliably.”
Zelensky is coming to Washington following Friday’s summit in Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump, at which both leaders underlined their commitment to resolving the Ukraine conflict.

Putin reiterated after the talks that eliminating the underlying causes of the fighting is the key to any settlement. According to the Russian side, for lasting peace to be achieved, Ukraine should renounce its aspiration for NATO membership, demilitarize, and recognize the current territorial realities; including the status of Crimea, as well as of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the latter four of which voted to join Russia in 2022.

Ukraine strikes key oil pipeline to EU – Hungary

The latest attack on Budapest’s energy security is “outrageous and unacceptable,” Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has said

Russian oil supply to Hungary has been halted after Ukraine targeted the key Druzhba pipeline system, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has said.
Moscow has informed Budapest that Russian experts are working to restore an "essential” transformer station targeted by a Ukrainnian strike, Szijjarto said.
Druzhba is one of the world’s longest networks, transporting crude some 4,000km from Russia and Kazakhstan to refineries in the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia.
Szijjarto wrote in a post on X on Monday that “this latest strike against our energy security is outrageous and unacceptable.”
It is not yet clear when deliveries of oil through the pipeline could resume, he added.

The diplomat reiterated that the Ukraine conflict is “not our war” and that “as long as we [Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government] are in charge, Hungary will stay out of it.”
Unlike most other EU capitals, which supported Kiev after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, Budapest took a neutral stance and refused to supply weapons to the government of Vladimir Zelensky. It also consistently called for peace and criticized Western sanctions against Russia as ineffective and more harmful to those who impose them.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian energy infrastructure throughout the conflict, including the Druzhba system and the TurkStream pipeline, which supplies natural gas to Turkish customers and several European countries, including Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Greece.
The previous attack on Druzhba occurred last Wednesday, with Kiev confirming that it had sent drones to strike a key distribution station in Bryansk Region, western Russia.
Moscow has condemned Ukrainian attacks on civilian energy infrastructure many times as acts of terrorism.

Kiev's descent to petty retribution sums up all that is evil and bad about the whole Ukraine/EU axis.

A potential peace deal must not place limits on the size of Ukraine’s military, French President Emmanuel Macron has said, rejecting Russia’s demands.
Earlier this year, Moscow reaffirmed that peace terms must include Ukraine’s neutrality and legally binding restrictions on the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Kiev has dismissed the demand as unacceptable.
Macron made his remarks following a meeting he attended in Washington on Monday with Vladimir Zelensky, several other European leaders and US President Donald Trump.
He said European countries should take the lead in providing security guarantees for Ukraine and equipping
“The first security guarantee is a robust Ukrainian army capable of repelling any attempted attack,”Macron told reporters following the negotiations. He added that the Ukrainian army should consist of “several hundred thousand men”and face “no limitations on its size,” according to Le Figaro.
The Ukrainian army has struggled to replenish its ranks during the ongoing mobilization campaign, as Russia has steadily gained ground.
Ukraine has long urged the West to provide guarantees similar to NATO’s collective defense, as an alternative to full membership in the alliance, which the US has rejected.
Trump said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to security guarantees for Kiev, without elaborating.
The two leaders met in Alaska on Friday, with both sides describing the summit as an important step toward peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Moscow has repeatedly said it would not tolerate any Western troops in Ukraine, even under the guise of peacekeepers, and insists that Kiev must abandon its plans to join NATO. Putin has also warned that Ukraine could use a potential ceasefire to regroup and rearm.

EU citizens are going to get slaughtered with new 'green' taxes and reductions in public services to pay for this doomed project.
Meanwhile the yank military industrial complex hoovers up the money and Trump laugh his bollix off at it.
What a fucking shitshow.

Ukraine wants Europeans to pay $100bn for weapons deal with US – FT

Ukraine has proposed that its European backers spend $100 billion providing it with American weapons, the Financial Times reported. Kiev continues to seek security guarantees from Washington.
Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and the heads of several Western European states held talks with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday to discuss the ongoing conflict and diplomatic attempts to resolve it.
Trump, who has repeatedly questioned the previous administration’s unconditional aid to Kiev, announced last month that Washington’s NATO allies would effectively pay for the US-made weapons being sent to Ukraine.
In addition to the weapons procurement proposal, Ukraine is preparing a $50 billion deal to produce drones domestically, FT reported, citing four people familiar with the matter and a document Kiev reportedly shared with the US.
Although the document contains limited details, FT said Ukraine intends to purchase at least 10 Patriot air defense missile systems.

Ukraine’s European supporters have struggled to ramp up production to meet Kiev’s needs, as Ukrainian forces have steadily been losing ground to the Russian army.
After a one-on-one meeting in Alaska on Friday, Trump claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin was ready to agree to security guarantees for Ukraine, though he did not provide specifics.
Ukraine has previously urged the West to provide security guarantees equivalent to NATO’s collective defense, while several European states have offered to deploy peacekeepers. Russia, however, has stressed that it will not tolerate any Western troops in Ukraine.

Oh no he's not, Merz!

Where did you get that idea?

EU leaders went to Washington begging to be cucked

“Security guarantees” has apparently become a euphemism for Western Europe funding America’s military-industrial complex

Can the EU manage to go even a single week without begging to be cucked? Spoiler alert: Nope. This time, they even boarded a plane for a transatlantic booty call.
“Security guarantees.” That’s what the Western European establishment keeps demanding for Ukraine. And now it looks like US President Donald Trump has found a way to monetize it at the EU’s expense – a cost that will, naturally, be passed down directly to European citizens.
When the idea of a peace deal was first floated earlier this year, the UK and France tried to hype up the concept of putting 30,000 EU troops in Ukraine – but only if peace broke out long enough to render the exercise glaringly useless and redundant. The plan depended on US air cover babysitting them while they did pushups, burpees, and awkward small talk with the American corporate contractors who would no doubt move in to monetize the latest frontier of shock-and-awe liberation.
But EU citizens seemed unmoved, and the elected officials who rely on them to remain in their cushy seats of power knew it. Apparently, a militarized Burning Man in a “liberated” Ukraine doesn’t exactly sell to Europeans.
Next, Western Europeans were carpet-bombed with stereoscopic rhetoric about the necessity to blow a ton of cash on weapons so Europe could guarantee BOTH its own security and Ukraine’s. Without even actually being in the EU, Ukraine was already being treated like the free perfume sample tossed into every shopping bag at Sephora – the one that makes your groceries reek whether you wanted it or not.
And because Ukraine had become rhetorically inseparable from the EU, the Eurojokers in charge started invoking a future Russian invasion date for Europe of 2030. It’s like a new form of hypochondria. Except instead of reading about a disease online and convincing yourself that you have it, they started believing that Russia was invading them just from observing events in Ukraine.

This “2030 invasion” propaganda seems to have originated from NATO-adjacent think tanks like the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, which last year cited 2030 as the date of Russia’s “military reconstitution.” The RAND Corporation has also warned of a “revanchist Russia” in a report on the “future of warfare in 2030” that will fight “its neighbors.” NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte then parlayed all this into a demand for European members of the US-led weapons lobby to cough up 5% of GDP in defense spending, up from the 2% previously demanded at Trump’s insistence.
The Euroclowns started trying to get buy-in through active audience participation, telling citizens to pack canned tuna and water into go-bags in preparation for Putin’s 2030 arrival. They even floated the idea of citizens investing in special financial products to fund European defense. If you forego just one Starbucks visit per week, maybe you can help buy a whole tank someday for someone who really needs it.
Scary times indeed! Better obey Daddy Trump via NATO and pledge 5% of GDP on weapons while the local boulangerie struggles to crank out baguettes thanks to insane energy costs. Maybe we can all make life easier for the clowns trying to triangulate all this and just eat bullets instead?
It became clear a while ago that this whole “security guarantee” charade was a pretext for the weapons racket. Europe has even ramped up weapons factory production to triple speed, according to the Financial Times. Now sit back and watch them screw it up.
One-one-thousand. Two-one-thousand…

Well, that didn’t take long. NATO has just applauded Germany’s commitment to fund “a $500 million package of military equipment and munitions for Ukraine sourced from the United States, under NATO’s new Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative.” It has also emerged that the EU’s favorite dependent, Ukraine, will now blow $100 billion of its allowance on AMERICAN weapons – for the same “security guarantees” that the EU keeps hyping up. Ukraine is now like a kid betting online with the EU’s credit card, plopping it on red, fully aware that every chip is going straight into the pockets of some other guy across the ocean.
After Trump met with EU leaders, Rutte, and Zelensky at the White House on Monday, he wrote online that “during the meeting we discussed Security Guarantees for Ukraine, which Guarantees would be provided by the various European Countries, with a co-ordination with the United States of America.”
“Security guarantees”
has apparently now become a euphemism for Europe funding America’s military-industrial complex while the US mostly coordinates the intake of European taxpayer cash. After all, Trump explicitly said that Europe would do most of the heavy lifting for those “guarantees.”
No doubt the US will be too busy with Ukrainian mineral deals Trump is setting up to focus on much else. Maybe just the security around those. Why doesn’t the EU insist on just being a part of that? Not fiscally masochistic enough?
Meanwhile, EU leaders continue brainwashing themselves with their own propaganda. “Peace must be achieved through strength… We must have strong security guarantees to protect both Ukraine and Europe’s vital security interests,” said unelected European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. “If we are weak today with Russia, we will prepare for tomorrow’s conflicts, and they will affect the Ukrainians. So no weakness. Basically, what we are going to say is that we want peace… but we want a robust peace,” French President Emmanuel Macron said before the White House meeting.
He wants the kind of peace that punches potential future adversaries in the face – preemptively. And Trump seems only too thrilled to indulge and profit off the EU’s self-imposed psychosis.

Von Leyen and co have allowed themselves to be sucked into a dizzying whirlpool of idiocy that is drawing them down to unkown depths. Will those in the EU with any sanity left cast themselves off from the hopeless wreckage and allow Europe to swim free from their deadly grasp? Our only hope lies with Hungary and the Visegrad group, but I doubt they are strong enough for the task.
