EU nation to terminate emergency Ukraine electricity scheme

Slovakia has been locked in a bitter row with Kiev over Russian oil deliveries.

Slovakia will terminate an emergency electricity supply contract with Ukraine, state-owned energy operator SEPS has announced.
The move comes amid the continuing row between Kiev and Bratislava over the Soviet-era Druzhba pipeline, which carried crude from Russia to Slovakia and Hungary. The pipeline went offline in late January, with Kiev claiming it was damaged by Russian long-range strikes, which Moscow has denied. Slovakia and Hungary have echoed Russia’s stance, accusing Ukraine of deliberately disrupting the supply for political reasons and threatening retaliation.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico ordered a halt to emergency electricity supplies from his country to Ukraine last week while threatening “further reciprocal steps” if oil supplies are not resumed. Announcing the halt, Fico reiterated that Ukraine’s actions were a “purely political decision aimed at blackmailing Slovakia.”

The contract with Ukrainian energy operator Ukrenego, which covers the emergency supply, is now set to be terminated, the director of SEPS, Martin Magath, told reporters on Wednesday after a government meeting. Over the past week, Ukraine reached out to Slovakia for an emergency electricity supply, but the request was turned down, he revealed.

Kiev has been increasingly reliant on electricity imports to stabilize its power grid, which has been battered by Russian strikes on Ukraine’s critical dual-use infrastructure. According to the Slovak authorities, Kiev received twice as much electricity from the country this January compared to the entire year of 2025.

Budapest has also mulled cutting emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine amid the Druzhba standoff. In late February, both Slovakia and Hungary announced that they would suspend diesel exports to Ukraine until the pipeline becomes operational again.
Additionally, Budapest has vetoed the EU’s proposed €90 billion ($106 billion) emergency loan for Ukraine and the latest package of anti-Russian sanctions. Until Kiev “returns to common sense and normality, we will not support any decision that is favorable to Ukraine,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.

Unquiet on the Western Front

It’s long been postulated that when the Kiev regime is on the verge of falling, Hungary will reclaim its ancestral lands. This may be a precursor to that:

Sure, it could just be a defensive move. But I wouldn’t count on it.
This is an interesting post that has become more interesting. There are now two countries that in days could be seriously on the ropes. Ukraine being one, and either Israel or Iran being the other.

(And that is not counting the fake ass countries of saudi and UAE/Bahrain etc).

I will not be sure which one for maybe 3 more days.

If Israel, then obviously it fires its 200 nukes.

If Iran, it can for a time at least, cut the oil supply. Remember, having the supply does not mean a double in price, that is not the arithmetic. I would say a 10% would double the price.

As for Ukraine, it certainly will lash out at Hungary. That gives the green light for Poland, Hungary, Romania and Belarus to grab as much as possible. And Moldova gets eaten because nobody ever heard of the place anyway.

Is Israel itself not a fake ass country?😉

So much for European unity if Ukraine does implode, no amount of fancy hair dos will help UvL out of that particular mess, nor will a raft of legislation and red tape, which is all the EU is good for at the end of the day.

In the forgotten war the Neo-Nazis are openly threatening to kill the leaders of EU countries.
This follows on from Adolf Zitler mouthing off about sending armed troops to Hungary to 'speak to Victor Orban in a language he'll understand' last week.

A former Ukrainian Secret Service (SBU) general and MP has issued an open public threat against the family of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, days after Vladimir Zelensky suggested his military could be despatched to speak with him “in its own language.”
Speaking to Pryamy TV, Ukrainian politician and retired SBU general Grigory Omelchenko cited the US-Israeli assassination of late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his family, and warned that Orban must change his “anti-Ukrainian” position if he cares about his five children and six grandchildren.

The SBU – the successor to the Soviet KGB – knows “where he [Orban] lives, where he sleeps, where he drinks beer and wine, smokes shisha, strolls and meets people,” Omelchenko claimed, adding "he needs to think of his grandchildren."

Zelensky's supporters are furious with Orban over his opposition to what they see as Ukraine's right to join the EU, ongoing unchecked financial support to Kiev and the detention by Hungarian security forces of a convoy that was carrying up to $100 million worth of cash and gold, allegedly destined for a Ukrainian state bank.

Orban responded to the threats on Thursday, assuring his family of their safety, in a video released by Budapest.

Orban said receiving death threats is “unusual” for his family but has brought them closer together. He also warned that “everything has its limit.”
The Orban government has long opposed the EU’s policy of arming and funding Ukraine against Russia, as well as Ukraine’s bid to join the bloc. Tensions escalated in January when Ukraine suspended Russian oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia via a Soviet-built pipeline, claiming it was damaged by a Russian attack – which Moscow has denied.

Orban has accused Zelensky of trying to cause an energy crisis in Hungary ahead of key parliamentary elections in April. Orban’s main competitor, Peter Magyar, denounced Zelensky for issuing threats against the prime minister, saying the EU should sever ties with Kiev until the Ukrainian leader apologizes to the Hungarian people.
