Hardly surprising, Canada is well known for supporting documented and proven Ukrainian Nazis.👍

Literally using Ukraine as a dumping ground for old scrap.😂

UK sent Kyiv large supplies of old military equipment, watchdog finds.
Much of the military aid the UK has given to Ukraine has consisted of old equipment, such as army boots that otherwise would have had to be thrown away, according to a spending watchdog. Military gear that was “often due to be scrapped or replaced” was prioritised by the Ministry of Defence because it was believed to have “immediate military value” to Ukraine — but sending it to Kyiv also “reduced waste or costs relating to disposal”, the National Audit Office said on Wednesday. The ministry also used other “innovative ways of sourcing military equipment”, such as reverse-engineering replacement tracks for Soviet-era T72 tanks from samples at a tank museum in Dorset, the NAO noted.

The findings come as some of Kyiv’s western allies tire of supporting Ukraine almost three years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion. The £7.8bn of military aid the UK has pledged or sent to Kyiv make it the third-largest supplier of western support to Ukraine after the US at £56.5bn, and Germany at £16.2bn, the NAO said.

The UK has pledged to continue providing £3bn a year of military aid.
Other western allies have also given ageing equipment to Kyiv: in one recent US example, 10 donated vehicles ostensibly worth more than $7mn had a combined book value of zero. However, ageing military equipment cleared from British stockpiles was only a small portion of total UK aid sent to Ukraine, because it had a book value of just £171.5mn versus an estimated replacement cost of £2.7bn. Three-quarters of it also came during the first year of the invasion. The UK spent a further £2.4bn on procuring equipment, contributed £500mn to an international fund, and spent £830mn on operational support, some channelled via Nato

“As the MoD plans its future support, it must continue to balance the UK’s strategic interests with maintaining the UK’s own military capabilities,” Gareth Davies, head of the NAO, said. “This includes making sure there are appropriate stocks of equipment and sufficient training provision for UK forces.” The NAO also raised concerns that the basic training the UK has given to more than 42,000 Ukrainian recruits did not always equip them fully for the frontline, in part because of UK regulations. Although 89 per cent of the latest cohort of trainees said the course had left them “better equipped to survive on the battlefield”, many complained about a lack of training on how to cope with drone warfare.
The NAO said this was because of civil aviation rules, which the MoD was trying to work around. While the NAO did not provide a strategic assessment of the UK military aid programme, its report gave generally high marks to the MoD and its procurement processes, so often a subject of sharp criticism. The NAO said the urgent need to provide Kyiv with military kit initially meant the MoD used “single source” contracts for procurement deals. Although this raised the risk of “poor value for money by removing competition”, the NAO did not identify any examples of wasteful corruption from 80 such contracts, worth £1.27bn. The MoD had learned some lessons, the NAO said, including how to speed up procurement to deliver air-defence equipment to Kyiv in just six weeks instead of the “one to two years it would normally take”.

One finding concerned the value of UK military supplies. The report cited 17,000 pairs of army boots, which the UK donated in March 2022. The shoes were nearing the end of their usable life and, if not sold, “would have been sent to landfill”. In another example, the NAO said the 14 Challenger 2 tanks sent in 2023 had a book value of just £17mn, compared to their original purchase price at the end of the 1990s of £47mn. One defence official, not involved in the audit, said: “The war has tested our stockpiles, but it’s a good thing for us that we have cleared out old kit and can now replace it with new equipment.” The UK has set aside £2.5bn to replenish its stockpiles depleted by the war. In April, the previous Conservative government pledged £10bn in investment to boost munitions productions over the next decade. Bolstering Britain’s defence industry is also expected to be a priority in the “root and branch” defence review launched by the Labour government in July. The MoD said it welcomed the report, which “recognises that Ukrainian troops are better prepared to defend their country from Russia’s illegal invasion thanks to the UK providing training”. The MoD added it was committed to replacing the equipment and munitions it had donated.

Didn't we always know it though, it was one big decluttering jamboree, and if 42,000 boots have been sent and yet Zelensky is demanding more, what does that say about the casualty rate?

Polish FM reveals limits of support for Ukraine

Warsaw has no intention of sending its own troops to fight Russia, Radoslaw Sikorski has said during a pranked video call

Poland has “zero willingness” to send troops to defend Ukraine, Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has told Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus, who presented themselves as former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko in a prank call with Warsaw's top diplomat published on Thursday.
The pair typically dupe public figures into talking to them by imitating various officials. At one point, their fake Poroshenko asked whether Poland would be willing to “join the team” and fight Russian troops on territory claimed by Ukraine.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk would be “very reluctant to do so,” Sikorski replied. Even the proposal to shoot down Russian cruise missiles over western Ukraine with Polish interceptors is “very, very controversial,” since this would amount to joining the conflict, the official explained.
“If the front started to collapse, things might change. But at the moment there is zero willingness to do that,” Sikorski said.

Poland is concerned that by sending troops to Ukraine, Warsaw would confirm Russian claims that it has designs on territory that Kiev received from Poland as part of a border settlement after World War II, the diplomat noted.
Warsaw is willing to train Ukrainian soldiers and facilitate the return of Ukrainian citizens eligible for military service, Sikorsky said. But “Polish soldiers inside Ukraine – not doable. Unless there was a peace agreement, and these were peacekeeping forces, UN or something. Then it’s different, maybe,” he added.

Sikorsky suggested that a military intervention by other members of NATO was likewise improbable, as “there is no willingness to have a war with Russia in Western Europe. This is an absolute red line.”
However, the US will keep sending military aid to Ukraine no matter what, the Polish minister argued, claiming that Washington’s credibility among its allies is at stake.
He also described as “very unhelpful” public calls by Polish President Andrzej Duda, an ally of the previous conservative government, to station US nuclear weapons on Polish soil. If deployed, such weapons would remain outside of Warsaw’s control and wouldn’t make a difference for Russia, since other European nations already host similar arms, Sikorsky said.
“It’s like being a postman who has a million-dollar check, who feels important, as if this million dollars was his,” he explained.

Ukraine struggling with flow of wounded soldiers – CNN

Moscow says the incursion into Kursk Region alone which started last month has already resulted in over 12,000 troops lost for Kiev

A CNN feature report about Ukraine’s hospital trains used “to accommodate the almost constant stream of casualties” from the front line in the conflict with Russia offers insight into the strain the hostilities are placing on the healthcare system.
There are several specialized trains of this kind, which CNN describes in its report on Thursday as highly classified and at risk of being targeted by Russia. It did not disclose much information about the route of the one its crew was on, only saying that the trip took nine hours, and identified Ukrainian military personnel by their first names only.
Descriptions of the trains’ capabilities were seemingly contradictory. Its chief resident was quoted as saying that “we can do almost everything here,” referring to the ICU unit, but later said the medics on board can only do minor operations to stop the bleeding and can’t even call outside consultants.

The report suggested that Russia could be hunting for hospital trains, because “there have recently been several strikes targeting the vicinity of railway stations and other infrastructure.” Ukraine uses railways to transport weapons and reinforcements to the front line, and Russia has targeted the deliveries on multiple occasions. Moscow says that unlike Kiev, it never attacks non-military targets.

Earlier this week, the secretary of the Russian security council, Sergey Shoigu, cited Ukrainian military casualties as he accused Kiev of rejecting multiple opportunities to deflate the tensions and end the hostilities.
”There was a first wave of mobilization, second wave of mobilization… They have reduced the age limit for mobilization. This was not necessary,” he said in an interview.

”Every day they lose 28 square kilometers on average. Every day,” the official added. “But the most important thing is that they lose up to 2,000 people every day.”

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky claimed in February that his country had counted around 31,000 battlefield fatalities.

The Russian Defense Ministry has estimated that the Ukrainian incursion into Kursk Region, which Kiev launched last month, already cost its military over 12,000 casualties as of Wednesday.
Kiev introduced a new draft system this year to boost the rate at which it forcibly enlists citizens into military service.

Russia driving back Ukrainian forces in Kursk Region – MOD

The Defense Ministry says ten border settlements have been captured in the last 48 hours

Russian troops have pushed back Ukrainian forces in Kursk Region, liberating several settlements, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has announced.
In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said that over the past 48 hours, Russia’s ‘North’ group of forces had liberated ten villages not far from the Ukrainian border, including Apanasovka, Byakhovo, Vishnevka, Viktorovka, Vnezapnoe, Gordeevka, Krasnooktyabrskoye, Obukhovka, Snagost and Desyatoe Oktyabrya.
The village of Gordeevka is located less than 2km from the Ukrainian border, while the others are slightly deeper into Russian territory. Gains were also made some 30km west of the town of Sudzha, where the fiercest fighting took place early into the incursion by Kiev’s forces.
At the same time, the ministry did not provide details on the level of resistance encountered during the advance. It stated, however, that Russian troops had repelled several Ukrainian counterattacks, including one near Snagost.
Ukraine struggling with flow of wounded soldiers – CNN READ MORE: Ukraine struggling with flow of wounded soldiers – CNN
The statement comes as Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky said Russian forces had launched a counterattack in Kursk Region, but insisted that “everything goes in accordance with our Ukrainian plan.”
Kiev launched its incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region in early August, initially making some gains. Moscow, however, has said that the advance has since been contained, estimating Ukraine’s losses at more than 12,500 service members and hundreds of armored vehicles.
Officials in Moscow have accused Kiev of indiscriminately targeting civilians and committing war crimes in the area, and have ruled out any peace talks with Ukraine while it has troops on Russian soil.

Big mistake, Zitler.......:)

In a way that is some of the more sensible talk emanating from the western camp. Poland is obviously reluctant for this conflict to escalate, has thought about it’s position a little more deeply than the rest of Europe, and has come to some more enlightened conclusions than the drum banging EU led by that harridan Von leyen.

If you are a Polish nationalist leader, it is simple, you are waiting for Ukraine to collapse so you can grab the two if not three oblasts with Polish people living in them that was once part of Poland.
So timing is everything

I’m not convinced that Ukraine will be allowed to collapse, there is far too much at stake, 12 trillion dollars worth of minerals for a start.

Putin issues new warning to NATO

Long-range strikes against Russia would mean direct involvement in the Ukraine conflict
Putin issues new warning to NATO

Removing restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western weapons would directly involve the US and its allies in the conflict with Russia and would be met with an appropriate response, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned.
The West has sent Ukraine long-range missiles such as Storm Shadows and ATACMS, which Kiev has so far used against Crimea and Donbass. In the past several days, however, the US and UK have suggested they might allow these weapons to be used to strike targets deeper into internationally recognized Russian territory.
“We are not talking about allowing or prohibiting the Kiev regime from striking Russian territory,” Putin said on Thursday. “It is doing so already, with unmanned aerial vehicles and other means.”

Ukraine lacks the capability to use Western long-range systems, Putin added, noting that targeting for such strikes requires intelligence from NATO satellites, while firing solutions can “only be entered by NATO military personnel.”
This will mean that NATO countries, the US, European countries are fighting against Russia.
“If this decision is made, it will mean nothing less than the direct participation of NATO countries, the US and European countries, in the conflict in Ukraine,” the Russian president said. “Their direct participation, of course, significantly changes the very essence, the very nature of the conflict.”
With that in mind, Putin added, Russia will “make the appropriate decisions based on the threats facing us.”

Some limitations on the use of Western-supplied weapons were originally put in place to allow the US and its allies to claim they were not directly involved in the conflict with Russia, while arming Ukraine to the tune of $200 billion. Kiev has been clamoring for the restrictions to be lifted since May.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy have hinted that the restrictions might be lifted this week, citing the alleged delivery of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia as the pretext. Iran has denied sending any missiles to Russia, calling the accusations “psychological warfare” by countries heavily involved in arming Ukraine.
Putin has previously warned NATO members to be aware of “what they are playing with” when discussing plans to allow Kiev to strike deep inside Russian territory using weapons provided by the West. Speaking with major news agencies on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in June, the Russian president said Russia would respond by shooting down the weapons in question and then retaliating against those responsible.
One of the possible responses Putin mentioned at the time was arming Western enemies with long-range precision weapons.

Negotiation’ only way to end Ukraine conflict – Beijing

The same goes for the war in Gaza and other hotspots, the Chinese defense minister has said
‘Negotiation’ only way to end Ukraine conflict – Beijing

Negotiating is the only solution to the Ukraine and Gaza conflicts, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun has said at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum on defense and security.
The annual event is hosting around 20 defense ministers and 700 delegates from around 100 countries this year, including representatives from Moscow and Kiev.
The senior official called on world powers to promote peace through facilitating political settlements of conflicts.
“To resolve hotspot issues such as the crisis in Ukraine and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, promoting peace and negotiation is the only way out. There is no winner in war and conflict, and confrontation leads nowhere,”Dong said, calling on all countries to promote “peaceful development and inclusive governance.”
The more acute the conflict, the more we cannot give up dialogue and consultation. The end of any conflict is reconciliation.
According to Dong, in order to solve regional tensions, neighboring countries should “seek strength through unity,” and on the global scale, nations should “never interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, never violate other countries’ rights and interests.”
“Major countries must take the lead in safeguarding global security, abandon a zero-sum mindset, and refrain from bullying the small and the weak,”
he stated.
Zelensky accuses Brazil and China of colluding with Russia READ MORE: Zelensky accuses Brazil and China of colluding with Russia
China has repeatedly said that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine must be resolved through negotiations. This May, along with BRICS partner Brazil, it presented a six-point proposal on a diplomatic settlement to the crisis. The plan highlighted diplomacy as the sole means to bring about peace and advocated for an international summit that both Russia and Ukraine would attend. A previous conference in Switzerland this summer was held without Russia and focused solely on Kiev’s demands, which Moscow has outright rejected.
Russia, which has often expressed eagerness to resolve the Ukraine conflict diplomatically, had previously signaled that it would welcome the Chinese-Brazilian plan as a foundation for a potential peace settlement.
Kiev, however, refused to consider the initiative. Speaking to Metropoles news outlet earlier this week, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky called the proposal “destructive,” and accused Beijing and Brasilia of “colluding” with Russia.

A lot of countries have backed themselves into very awkward places.
This little section sums its perfectly!

"The Red line is clear as day. The ball is now in NATO’s court. Let’s pray they know what they’re doing,” Irish journalist Chey Bowes tweeted. “It now seems obvious that Zelensky’s ‘victory plan’ is to lose. To lose so badly, that his embarrassed ‘partners’ will have to drag us to the brink of WW3 to save his sniveling dictatorship,” he added.

This is what happens when all debate is stiffled, checks and balaces no longer apply, it becomes a one way street with no off ramps as politicians hurtle towards the brick wall of reality and wonder how the hell they got into such a situation.

US sanctions RT

The Russian outlet is a threat to democracy, the State Department has claimed

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has accused RT and its parent company of acting as an extension of Russian intelligence and attempting to undermine democracy around the world.
Speaking at a State Department press conference on Friday, Blinken announced sanctions designations against RT parent companies Rossiya Segodnya and TV-Novosti, accusing “individuals affiliated” and “elements within”them of allegedly attempting to interfere in the Moldovan elections.
The State Department has also sanctioned Dmitry Kiselev, Rossiya Segodnya’s director-general.
TV-Novosti was also accused of “being responsible for or complicit in, or having directly or indirectly engaged or attempted to engage in, interference” in US or other foreign elections “for or on behalf of, or for the benefit of, directly or indirectly,” the Russian government.
RT is “engaged in covert influence activities… functioning as a de facto arm of [Russian] intelligence,” Blinken told reporters.

Blinken revealed that the US, UK, and Canada plan to launch a global effort to treat RT’s activities as espionage, and hope to attract all of their “allies and partners” to the endeavor.
James O’Brien, assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, called RT a “threat to democracy and accurate information.”
According to the State Department, RT has “moved beyond being simply a media outlet and has been an entity with cyber capabilities,” which is “also engaged in information operations, covert influence, and military procurement.”
The US government claimed that “an entity with cyber operational capabilities and ties to Russian intelligence” has been embedded within RT since the spring of 2023 and that RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan and her deputy Anton Anisimov had “direct, witting knowledge of this enterprise.”
Another accusation leveled against RT was that Anisimov has operated a crowdfunding platform “providing material support and weaponry to Russia’s military units in Ukraine.”
The State Department claimed that RT has funded “proxy outlets” that engaged in “covert influence activity” around the world, alleging that this has happened in Africa, Germany, France, and Argentina.

The head of the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC), James Rubin, told reporters on Friday that the “broad scope and reach” of RT was one of the reasons many countries around the world did not support Ukraine. The GEC has funded propaganda games aimed at children and forced Twitter to censor pro-Russian content. Rubin admitted last year that he wanted to use the GEC to shut down Russian media outlets around the world.
“We are going to be talking… in Latin America, Africa and Asia… to try to show all of those countries that right now broadcast – with no restrictions or control – RT and allow them free access to their countries,” Rubin said, arguing that RT’s presence has “had a deleterious effect on the views of the rest of the world about a war that should be an open and shut case.”
The State Department’s announcement was leaked to CNN earlier in the day. When reached for comment by the US outlet, RT’s press office sarcastically replied: “We’ve been broadcasting straight out of the KGB headquarters all this time,” adding, “We’re running out of popcorn to sit and watch what the US government will come up with next about us.”
