An out of touch middle class bint or somebody who is actually waking up to the fact that the working class are pissed off with FFG and are looking for something a little more radical to shake the smug complacent crooks in the Dail up?

If the Monk got elected in, which FFGN would lose out?

Not my part of the world thankfully, and I long ago gave up picking over the minutiae of constituency politics, they are pretty much all the same.

Dublin Central will see Sinn Féin's Mary Lou McDonald and Fine Gael's Paschal Donohoe face a range of potential challengers, including Gerry "the Monk" Hutch in what will be one of the most tightly fought contests of the election . . . etc etc

Hitch is there to take votes from Steenson. SF had two seats here but only ran one candidate so it is hard to see them losing their seat. Steenson has a real improbable task here

Shenanigans going on alright ~ ~ The Monk probably has to pay back the Irish Establishment for not jailing him, and stopping the Kinahans from killing him ~ ~ Under the circumstances ~ ~ Has the Monk got much choice ? !

Just turned on RTE's "debate". What I've heard so far.

"The planets on fire and there's a climate emergency"

- Simon Harris

"History will show this government was the first to get to grips with the climate emergency"

- Michael Martin

These fuckwits really live in a bubble. Why the fck are Pravda banging on about this issue that nobody cares about when there's a million issues of real importance to Irish people they could be discussing.

Because the current Gov of FFGN want to be elected again, FFG are drumming up support for the unpopular Greens. There's probably a Green agenda to be followed which means that even if nobody at all voted for the Greens you'd still see them on the TV everyday spouting away as 'Expert Advisors';)

If this election is a bust, then it is time that a straight talking party was set up

Kingscourt farmer enters General Election race

“I was a farmer before I was a garda; and good people must do the right thing.”

It'd be wonderful if Val got elected, he'd bring a great sense of vitality to the Dáil debates, he could be very good for the country. Fare thee well Val

I am in with a chance. Great support around Carrick, Kingscourt. There are a lot of minor candidates the two with sign up are
Sarah O'Reilly and Shane P O'Reilly. The is a boyo called Lester Gordon.

If you know anyone in Cavan Monaghan please ring them and ask to vote for me.

Is it true that your go fund me is set at a target for €3000 just to get back the exact price of Valentine the Gay Bull. And @Myles O'Reilly identifies as a gay bull and that is why he donated heavily

I turned on to the circus show last night. Yes, the usual gobdawery - my observation is this though.
I never watch TV, only the odd movie every now and then.
So I'm sitting there, knowing what I know - and the thing worked its spell. The old conditioning came back - horror of horrors - they were talking and my hardwired agreeability found itself not agreeing, but sort of humming along, being lulled in.
Those TV waves are powerful stuff, let me tell you. People who watch this everyday and get all their information have zero chance to make an informed decision come Friday week.

What do youse think of this add in next week's locals?

Val Martin makes his confession before the General election 2024.

I was born of Cavan and Monaghan grandparents on a family farm which I still own and run at Kingscourt which is an industrial area with employment. I worked in metal fabrication and could have gotten by nicely in industry and farming without ever leaving home.

I felt something pulling me and calling on me to serve. I realised it was my country Ireland, its majestic tricolour flag and its people. I joined the FCA, its reserve army while under age and then joined the Garda Siochana at 19. I retired to serve Kingscourt Community Development Council and got a lot done there. I retired completely in 2008 to farm and enjoy life.

Only now do I ask myself why I lived such a mixed up type of life and what drove me to manage it all, moving my family home six times? Only now do I realise the reason why. There can be only one answer. I love Ireland’s woods, valleys, lakes, its fields, its people, its language, its culture, arts and its gleaming flag to bits. I must have always loved her to bits. Now I feel her call again to serve her one more time in her Dail established by patriots.

It takes effort and courage, but I must answer her call in her hour of need, whether I win or lose. I have no choice but to run in this election. The people of Cavan and Monaghan will decide my fate and (perhaps Ireland’s fate also). That flag calls me, I now answer and you good voters will decide your answer in the ballot box on November 29th.

Val Martin.

Ok well we are about half way through the campaign and I think the pattern is now set, it looks like Independents and Aontu will be the big winners.

Peadar Toibin is never off the airwaves in this country, and frankly that is not the sign of an honest person in my opinion. The powers that be ration airtime like a miser does gold sovereigns, so we know from that simple fact that Aontu are controlled opposition. You have to be careful about Independents too, not so many of them are genuinely independent, unfortunately.

The Nationalist candidates still have every chance, the electorate are looking to move away from the Punch and Judy show of the main parties, but usually they know nothing of those candidates. Mostly these candidates cannot afford posters or leaflets so stand little chance.

Still its all to play for yet!

Has anyone had canvassers yet?

Apart from the drop-and-run literature popped through the door I've yet to have any fun with any canvassers!
Nope. Only one of the Healy- Raes came by in late October before it was officially called. And other than that only paper. And I haven't even received my election card yet - even though others here in this house have.

The Political Parties don't actually want to meet the ~ Great Un-Washed Irish Public = = For Obvious Reasons when you think about it.

Irish Democracy is a Sham = = Maybe the Irish people will work it out this time.

This is a vitally important Election for the future of the Irish People and Ireland = = One can only hope that enough Irish People have worked that out !

Well my local pub must be stuck in a time-warp because there last night , 2 people tried to brow-beat Me into voting for our 2 FF candidates when l told them l was voting Independents. In another local, l was told the area was all voting SF.
The Irish will not work it out this time.
I cannot get Northern Sound here.
