I’m sorry Aul Lad, but this reply is utter nonsense from start to finish.
I have attended Latin masses for several decades now, and I can confirm that it is incredibly easy to follow. I know more about the structure of the Tridentine rite than any ‘New Order’ Catholic does about the hippy 1960’s abomination of a liturgy.
My kids were able to comprehend the Latin text (which is side by side with English) by the age of 7.
I have no idea what you are talking about when you describe it as “unintelligible”. A complete idiot could follow and understand it.
The one Catholic mass you will see young adult people today is churches that do latin mass. Latin is a very hard language to grasp, I have a bad grasp of it, but can follow it, but it is still hard to follow for one that studied the language long ago. That isn't the point, the point is that the one place you will see any kind of revival of such today is said churches. The priests there are far less likely to be the liberal types, far more based as they say.
The reality regards the last hundred years here, is there were a lot of scumbag priests in Ireland, some great, some out an out traitors working with the brits, but the bad were really bad, where the homosexuals used to hide as priests here and elsewhere why aren't ye married, ah I'm a priest, an awful lot of seminaries in Ireland were and likely still are gay bathhouses, and age of consent and homosexuality is something that people do not understand is a real issue, not all but even a fraction will cause awful carnage among the population, a lot of pedophilia. They have run to hide in the schools now and other places, as they are few kids in the churches today, where they don't necessarily need to hide such anymore.
The priesthood does not necessarily reflect the religion in any nation, a bigger issue today is the question, "Is the pope Catholic". I don't think he is regards the Catholic Catechism, which is a far bigger issue regards the religion, not forgetting supposed changes regards vatican 2, and their attempts to change it etc..., he is still not Catholic. Where again, I think there are valid issues to bring up regards the Catholic church, huge ones, but that does not need to effect your faith, and should not, but we do need to address problems where we can and if we can.
