Helen McEntee and the reasons for censorship in "Old" and "New" Ireland- a question.

In the 26 counties from 1932 into the 1990s the major reason for censoring things was their sexual nature. It was assumed by many people that a large majority of people had a Don Juan or nymphomaniac lurking in their veins which if provoked out with cause immense social damage through setting fires of sexual jealousy ablaze never mind issues of work not getting done and therefore censorship was necessary and justified. Now things have not worked out at all as they believed they would if the guards were let down but I do not believe therefore that they were stupid, there are other reasons I believe why they didn't.

The question is that does Helen McEntee believe that laws against "Hate Speech", etc are necessary because she believes that similarly there are raging murderous hatred Neo-Nazi type characters lurking beneath the surface of your ordinary Irish man or woman needing just the right invocations and encouragements to burst out and start butchering people and that because of this the laws she has sought are very much a necesscity?

None of the above. I believe that she was offered a place on the ark, so to speak, for when shtf for real. Whether the powers that be actually fulfil their promise, given McEntee's noticeable mediocrity and lack of substance remains to be seen. I am not sure that most people are capable of judging of the truth, at least when it comes to things serious and complex, in part because of lack of natural abilities and in part because they see other things as a lot more important than truth. Than you have people who are capable of them doing so in some regards but not in others. I also don't think being afraid of humans in general in terms of our capacity for evil and irrationality is necessarily wrong at all. That said McEntee and contemporary Western politicans in general are among the last people I would trust to decide what I should be allowed to examine.
