Seems rents have gone through the roof past few months....not only can young Irish not buy starter homes, they can't even fcuking afford rents. They have 2 choices, stay at home with parents and a stunted life or emigrate. In the meantime the Irish government's policy is to flood the country with Africans, Muslims and indians. Don't worry approved housing bodies will make good on Rodericks promise of their own door accommodation after 3 months living here.... 🤬

If it is any use to anyone I've a three room stone cottage in a very quiet rural location five miles from Sligo available for rent. 400 bucks a month. Is this the cheapest rental in Ireland?

Disadvantage is that there is only solar power electricity and no mains water, just rainwater. This means HAP won't pay on it and you won't be able to run a washing machine.

Dogs and Irish welcome, but they must be well behaved.

Africans seem to be extremely unhealthy, ever noticed that on deportation flights back to say nigeria, there are medical staff included on these deportation flights.... How many times have you flown and demanded there are medical staff on the flight, why is it necessary when Africans are involved 🤔

I had the misfortune of catching Mary Lou McDonalds pontificating in the Dáil on this issue. She was attacking Slaphead Martin, accusing his government of not building enough houses; of not enforcing rent caps, all the usual shite.

Not once did McDonalds mention the fact that the housing/rental is completely saturated with demand arising out of mass unregulated migration. A friend of mine works for a rental agency and told me over 90 percent of applications come from non-nationals - mainly Indians.

No doubt there are many factors that have lead to the mess that is Ireland's - but surely this is a major fcking contributing factor. How can you deal with the issue when you won't address unlimited, unrestrained demand.

But McDonalds and the other establishment gimps will not broach the subject. They can't bring themselves to state what every fcking man and his dog can see.

The only politician I've seen openly addressing the issue is Carol Nolan - a principled and decent politicians who puts the other gimps to shame.

It is like SF are also "on board"with the mass open border migration policy. If you are serious about housing, you need to be serious about immigration. Failure to point that out means SF are on board with this open borders. SF are Khunts.

I don't think this demonstrates a good grasp of cause and effect.

Go back a little bit.

Did the Irish government not actively invite and incentivise investors such as venture, pension, and "vulture" funds, into the housing market between 2010 and 2013 - to try to resolve their "celtic tiger" legacy of distressed assets, bad bank loans, and to inject the capital they and their cronies were madly desperate for into the collapsed property market?

Did they not pass legislation introducing REITs and providing tax breaks to explicitly attract global capital into the Irish rental and property markets? Did NAMA not sell vast portfolios of property loans to these foreign investment and private equity funds, to try and "rescue the market" (as both bankers and politicians put it)?

But why ever would these venture capital and pension-backed funds buy all these "ghost" abandoned and un-sellable properties? So, how do you think the government and indigenous vested interests persuaded them that they could in fact get the returns they sought for their clients, and sooner rather than later?

Just look at how they subsequently overhauled our economic and employment permit systems post-2010 to attract non-EU migrants. E.g. By transitioning to a managed employment permit framework, and broadening post-study work routes for international graduates etc.

So in a word, the level of immigration may well cause problems. But it's not the primary cause in the chain of cause and effect, is it.

Or how about you go back as far as the 1960's even - when you had for instance the incredible mass immigration of culchies to Dublin driving the cost of serviced land up 500%, and on top of that you had all the usual corrupt brown envelope speculator mutants making millions on it?

Now I highlight that because it seems to me there's a cultural characteristic in this country that has been here for a very long time, and we never rooted it out.

So maybe that'as why I get rubbed up the wrong way by all this pointing at immigrants instead of at that - the real rot that we have in this country imho, which I would say is the biggest reason we have these current immigration related problems. I.e. Look further up the chain.

Where's the actual root of our problems? Let's get at that.

That would have been very far sighted of the pension funds at the time so although I take your point I feel that thirt is not the primary cause, we might also note that it is the EU that is behind the great immigration push (and whoever is behind the EU)not the Irish Government, they are just going along with it as they always do.

Speaking of fat, useless Africans they have one driving the Dromhaire bus now.
