Is Putin really as bad as Stalin, though? His way of doing things may be preferable to Europe.

We have democracy in Europe.

Its not perfect but its preferable to all other forms of government.

Russia doesnt really do democracy, it prefers a strongman in power which is fine as far as that goes.

But Putin wants to extend Russian influence over parts of Europe and the former USSR that clearly dont want it. Theres a reason why eastern European countries advocated for, and joined NATO. Its why the CSTO is such a mess.

Even Orban didnt leave NATO, and was only too happy to take EU funding.

Leaving aside the absolute corruption and control of information in Russia, how could it be a better model than what we have now?

I suggest ( strongly ) that Western " Democracies " are much ( mush was a typo but also applicable ) more of an Illusion than a reality these days !

An entertaining Soap Opera in America's case ~ ~ And no-where near as entertaining in the other Western " Democracies " !

At least the Americans need to be entertained and distracted ! !

Ukrainian long-range drones struck an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and set it ablaze, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday, as the Russian city hosts an annual international economic forum that is a banner event for President Vladimir Putin.

The drones flew more than 600 miles to hit the terminal, Zelensky said on social media. Clouds of black smoke rose over the city’s port after the attack. St. Petersburg is Russia’s second-largest city and is where Putin was born.
