Have any of you lads renewed your passport recently? It's almost a decade since I last renewed mine and the passport process has gone extremely online centric since then. Usually I insist on doing my business with the State offline.

Yes sir, I'm no tech gurru but roped in the elder child, done pretty quick to be fair. Grab someone you trust, it's actually not too bad.

Renewed mine in 2024, simple enough using a decent mobile phone.

I renewed mine last year, done online in a few minutes. Did it on a Saturday, got it in the post Monday/Tuesday. I was surprised how fast it was.

Whether you do it online or not, you will still need to provide the same information to them. It's only your basic personal details and PPS which they already have anyway.

It can't be a selfie, you're supposed to get someone else to take the photo. Maybe it's possible to cheat. I used a proper camera & tripod to photo, took a few different photo uploads to pass their requirements.

Yes. I'm helping a friend renew his expired passport, he had to get a form signed by the Gardai, send off proof of address and copy of a birth cert.
