Caught a fleeting glance of some sort of breakfast show this morning and even those few seconds were enough to illustrate just how empty headed and dumbed down the telly is nowadays. The BBC, always a propaganda machine, used to assume that the viewer was possessed of some intelligence, but that all seems a long long time ago now.

Ireland's turning out to be madder than ever, much of RTE's was of a tedious low standard, British soaps on all peak and recreational time - unwatchable for some but consumed by the majority as daily programming, programs so vacuous and monotonous(by design) that one felt more entertained by the advertising!

The new director general was very non committal on Tubridy returning as an RTE employee....he said a decision will be taken in due course
