Al'lied hypocrisy at one of it's peaks being that they have lobbied the ICC to prosecute Putin for trafficking children while saying nothing or doing nothing to prevent cluster munitions being used.
Putin is protecting the Children's lives for eventual repatriation.
Zitler is ensuring Children will be blown up dead in the years to come after the war.

The ruble is doing exactly what I would expect from a country at war and is no concern to the Russians because the produce raw material paid for in dollars so they are making even more money.

The dollar has been strengthening and will continue as interest rates rise.


Until of course it stops rising on the realization that the country is now 33 trillion in federal debt.

I think he is saying there what he thinks people in the West with power want to hear.

He has taken really nasty step to enforce cultural uniformity on the territories he controls- not just against the Ukrainians who are more like the Great Russians (a geographic and to a lesser extent cultural term) but also against Ukrainians with close cultural ties to Hungary, etc. He has heaped praise on Golda Meir who even more than Ben Gurion which is saying something ruthlessly repressed, destroyed where possible, etc non-European Jewish cultures while discriminating against non-European Jews- he basically said she was his model human being.

The thing is though again we are talking about an incredibly unstable and insincere human being- so who knows?

I don't think he cares about the questions of demographics unless it directly impinges on stuff very directly to do with him. It was not the CIA who made him what he is now- arguably it was worse, but only arguably.

Yes but he has other forces he needs to answer to. I strongly suspect that this will end in him having an open pyschotic episode and being shunted off stage or maybe just killed.

Any decent army would have wiped the place off the map by now if it had wanted to. But no, all the Ukies can manage is to throw a few fireworks at the place and hope one or two get through.

The most apparent evidence we have that the counter-offensive is failing is by comparing territorial gains between Russia and Ukraine in the Bakhmut region and surrounds. Two months into the counteroffensive, Ukraine has failed to capture a single settlement in the region and has lost about 40K troops. Russia has so far captured, during Ukraine's counteroffensive, Salidar, Yakovlika, Mykolaivka, Blahodatne.

So Far, Ukraine has achieved some terrorist-esque outlier victories. Damaging some bridges, some ships. All they have to show territory-wise is a bridgehead in Staromailorske, which they have not been able to do anything with at all.

This war is effectively over. Ukraine cannot win at this point. Not only can Ukraine not win at this point, but it would appear their counteroffensive cannot even retake more ground than it concedes. They're bucketing out water from a sinking boat with a tea cup.
