So Putin said in effect that he was adsorbing the eastern part of Ukraine by refering to it as the Motherland.

It's amazing how blinkered you people are. All because you have to stick unceasingly to an ideology. Putin is the man who had his political opponents poisoned; Putin is the man who has ordered Russian forces to blanket bomb civilian areas in Ukraine. I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Ukraine for example. China supports Russia and has independent thoughts so US wants to stick a few complimentary missiles close by to point in that direction.

View the world as an overly emotional pussy you mean.
There has been no carpet bombing in Ukraine of civilian areas.
The Ukrainian soldiers are using them civilians as human shields, using schools as barracks and supermarkets as military storage facilities.
Trains were loaded with Western weapons and sent across the country among civilian carriages so the Russians won't hit them.
Russia will finish the job it started, you can be manipulated all you like.

There is ton of things I disagree with IrishWarrior about but he was a quality poster on PoliticalIrish.com and he has been from what I have seen a quality poster here.

We are at a crucial point. The American public, those paying attention, have a short attention span. They are tending to move on.

What concerns them is the amount of money in their pocket and that is getting less rapidly.
Putin should shut off the gas to Finland and Sweden before they join NATO.

Something has to give, and the only thing giving at the moment is the value of the euro falling. When and if it breaks below the dollar parity, then energy in Europe will be very onerous indeed.

The war has shown us that unless a country uses nukes, it is next to impossible to do a blitz capturing swarths of territory. Even without firing any drone or little lethal tank killer, the tanks themselves will break down after a few potholes or speedbumps.

Tanks and ships are in effect obsolete imho now.
