On a human level Justin Barrett and James Reynolds have been mates before I was born, their falling out is tragic ultimately in a deep way.

Interesting...so Woods is now on board with Reynolds et al, that explains why Woods blocked Barrett on Twitter. I've not seen Woods previously do anything directly with the NP, but now he's on board following a leadership coup. I doubt he'll be running as an election candidate, and while he is intelligent enough to be a party spokesperson he is not really a good public speaker - fine for YouTube but his monotone style is not engaging enough for the political arena.

By the way as a party member I didn't receive any invitation to whatever that meeting was, nor the meeting at which they decided on their coup. As far as I understand, when political party members are unhappy with their leader, there should be a motion of no confidence and all party members should get their vote.

As a party member you’d have noticed that party Ard Fhies did not feature motions or voting by the membership. Barrett shouldn’t be too surprised when he implemented no internal party democracy

He claims that he dismissed Reynolds and Paul Conroy before they claim to have ousted him (not that they had any authority to remove him as party leader). The Electoral Commission is investigating the claims to party leadership and there is a possibility that the NP will have its party status removed in order to resolve the situation.

James Reynolds has revealed very personal details about Justin's life which was completely unnecessary and irrelevant to the current situation, events that happened over 15 years ago, about an alleged drinking problem and the breakup of Justin's first marriage.

He was also unhappy about Justin's quote of Hitler (big feckin' deal) while he now welcomes to the party Keith Woods, who spends most of his time naming the Jew.

Reynolds was upset that he wasted €40,000 on a high court case that he lost, because Justin told him he was an idiot and would lose the case, but he told him too late and wasn't in the court on the day to hold Reynolds' hand.

Reynolds was absolutely outraged about Justin ratting to the Gardai about the missing gold, and those present all strongly applauded this. By the way this was an invite-only event for a very select few party members (probably just the coup crowd) and Keith Woods for some reason.

Reynolds is a dreadful speaker but this speech was particularly painful to watch as he stuttered for 30 minutes and made a complete balls of his speech climax. It was very embarrassing and uncomfortable, I don't know how anyone in that room could have confidence with Reynolds as leader after that.

Lost all credibility, They should have been leading the pack of nationalist parties discussing strategies with the others to make sure they don't tread on each other toes and present a united nationalist front. If they can't pick up votes now, when will they ever? Instead, they are having internal power struggles and destroying what ever credibility they have.

Add to that that Renoylds cant even string a sentence together without blustering and stuttering.

That was seriously cringe. Looks like Barret is all done and we are stuck with this nice lad but he has no leadership abilities whatsoever. So he has to go. Imo.

I can relate to that too, it's a fair point, but without being personally involved it's hard to know. But what exactly do they mean by "activity"? More delivering leaflets, running a few no-hoper candidates in national elections? I think Justin may be more of a long-term person who sees this process will take 10+ years, but the coup guys are eager to do stuff and expect to get elected now. Now the pressure is on the coup guys to bring activity, but they are not off to a good start.
