If both opponents have similar abilities.
It's how it goes.
And the Russians adapted to new technologies and battlefield realities faster and their implementation than the Nato opponents.
It's been mentioned before.
This is a laboratory for killing.

The Russians had the huge advantage of a single military structure that needn't worry about mixing and matching various items from different armies that are equipped for different tasks and supplied by different defence contractors, which has always been a NATO weakness.

It is, once again, reminiscent of WW2 where the US Army logistics basically depended on two versions of the same engine (4 and 6 cylinder) and three or four different bearing sizes, simplifying field repairs to a massive extent. Meanwhile, every time the Germans designed a new tank or vehicle they insisted on having the optimal rather than off the shelf components, which made the supply of spare parts a nightmare.

Very good points.
Then Russia was meant to fold due to sanctions and none of these realities would've been made obvious.

I doubt it. Nobody cares for Ukraine apart from changing their fb profile picture.

The only unknown is whether Deadzinsky will be alive past Christmas.

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Russian forces have destroyed 550 Ukrainian warplanes since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.


"In all, the following targets have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation: 550 warplanes, 257 helicopters, 9,568 unmanned aerial vehicles, 442 surface-to-air missile systems, 13,870 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,188 multiple rocket launchers, 7,268 field artillery guns and mortars and 16,011 special military motor vehicles," the ministry reported.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in the Kupyansk direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 75 personnel, two tanks, four armored personnel carriers, two pickup trucks, a German-made Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery gun, a US-manufactured M198 howitzer and a D-30 howitzer, it said.
