A lot of French Catholics were and are taken by his synthesis of French ethno-nationalism, Catholicism and political authoritarianism and set it out as THE Catholic position forgetting usually that he was not a Believer and also that the Vatican condemned much of his work in 1926. No less than Archbishop Lefbrve, a man I greatly admire, called Maurras a great political thinker. The founder of Plaid Cymru, the great Welsh poet Saunders Lewis, very very much into him also as was Derek Holland. Were you being sarcastic about Alex O'Connor?</blockquote>
