She believes that growing frustration with the shutdowns could mark a tipping point. ‘This really is a new moment and a point of serious stress for society. The authorities are playing tough, but this actually might be something that people will not tolerate,’ says Arapova, highlighting that ‘it’s about everyday life.’

1916 was heroic but totally, totally, totally FUBAR. Ditch your mobile phones guys - they are tracking you and listening to you every second, even when supposedly switched off. The phone is a key part of digital ID. Insist that you want to do business without a phone - they make it hard, but it is possible.

Plus, the little black boys in the Congo are working as slaves to mine the cobalt for your phones. Are you guys racist or something??? Plus they give you cancer, fry your testicles and sterilise pre teen girls. Bad for wildlife too.

I notice a lot of anti-digital feeling when I raise it. People don't like it. We have to keep asking the question: what's the back up when the electricity fails?
