Trump calls Zelensky the ‘last person we need help from’

US President Donald Trump has dismissed Vladimir Zelensky’s offer to assist with countering Iranian drones in the Middle East, saying he is the “last person” Washington needs help from.
Since the launch of US-Israeli strikes on Iran late last month, the Ukrainian leader has repeatedly signaled his readiness to get involved in the conflict, claiming that Washington has appealed for help defending American assets stationed in the Gulf against retaliatory attacks.
On Friday, Zelensky reiterated the offer on X, arguing that without Ukrainian “expertise,” the US will not be able to “stabilize the situation.”
In a telephone interview with NBC News on Saturday, the US president rejected the idea that Washington had requested or requires Ukrainian assistance.

“We don’t need help,” Trump said, adding that Zelensky is the “last person we need help from.”

Trump also criticized Zelensky’s approach to negotiations with Moscow, arguing that “Zelensky is far more difficult to make a deal with” than Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I’m surprised that Zelensky doesn’t want to make a deal. Tell Zelensky to make a deal because Putin’s willing to make a deal,” he told NBC.
Since returning to office last year, Trump has pushed for a negotiated settlement between Kiev and Moscow, leading to US-mediated trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi in January and follow-up negotiations in Geneva last month.

The next round of talks was expected to take place in early March. However, with the Trump administration focused on the conflict with Iran, the meeting has reportedly been postponed until next week at the earliest.
Zelensky then sought to insert Ukraine into the Middle East conflict, saying he had instructed officials to “provide the necessary means and ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists capable of guaranteeing the necessary security.”
The head of the national security commission of the Iranian parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, reacted on X, saying that “by providing drone support to the Israeli regime, failed Ukraine has effectively become involved in the war,” and warning that Kiev could face retaliation, with the entire country becoming a target.

In a coffee shop! Why not out at a missile battery or dropping in on some other military personnel doing military sort of stuff? Y'know, the usual leader at the front line sort of BS. If I were an Israeli huddled down down in a bunker with drones and bombs going off not sure that I'd be impressed with the boss swanning about downing a coffe and bun.

On the other hand, if Israel is trying to give the impression that life is as normal in Tel Aviv then we can be certain that it isn't.

It would have better for them to say nothing than release a video that could be shown to be fake. It raises speculation even further.

I can't understand why the video of Netayahoo with six fingers was released in the first place. Surely if someone was trying to make out he was alive and well, they would have reviewed the video before putting it out there. It's not like Mossad are an amateur bunch of film producers.

Not so sure, I was reading a far less pessimistic outlook recently which pointed out the US is easing Russian sanctions, India is hoping to do a deal with Putin while strategic reserves have been opened up and so on. Back to normality will not come overnight, but it's going to happen sooner than many think.

When you look at the Royal Navy today minesweepers and coastal patrol carft (pimped up cabin cruisers) is about all they have. In the Cold War days there'd be half a dozen frigates and a cruiser or two hanging around ready for a bit of jolly rogering of the Iranians.

There is a definite impression that he's writhing on the hook, much like a worm on a fishing line. With Netanyahu seemingly out of action, dead or comatose, it's fallen on him to lead in a war that was not of his design. With it failing to having achieved any clear objective shouting at all around him appears to be the only gun left in his arsenal.

  • Strait of Hormuz Update: Let’s do some math.

    Per the EIAgov, Prior to the Conflict in Iran, roughly 20.7 million barrels of oil per day flowed through the Strait.
  • Of that, about 7.6 mmbpd flowed to China.
  • About 2.9 mmbpd flowed to India.
  • Iran is now allowing oil to flow to China, and is negotiating a deal with India, meaning that soon, 10.5 mmbpd could be back on the market.
  • Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser says its East/West pipeline can carry 7 mmbpd to the Red Sea.
  • Now, we’re up to 17.5 mmbpd.
  • Add in the 2-3 mmbpd that will soon begin to flow via the IEA strategic reserve release, and you are suddenly right at that 20.7 mmbpd number.

    Oh.

    That’s if - and it’s a big IF - all goes to plan.

    No wonder crude prices have started dropping today. Oil traders can do math, too.

Bad news: MSM report Israelis digging trenches in south Lebannon and generally preparing for ground invasion.

Advice for the Iranians: if you have any missiles left, send them all to northern Israel ASAP. If you can stop the invasion, it will be a great triumph.

Irish Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that the Irish ambassador to Israel is not available for interviews. They have also warned irish citizens in the Gulf that posting reports of Iranian attacks is illegal and could lead to prison.

That's a good point, if Netanyahu is taken out, people will view this more and more like Trump's very own war. The US need to make some big concessions in the background to reopen the Straits, declare victory and withdraw from the region.
