I shouldn't imagine this was in the plan nor should I think that Israel got away without a good beating, it goes to explain the uneasy truce that now seems to have settled on the affair.

They have to be careful for if he had assumed that by sucking out the USA it's wealth, technology and might would be transferred to Israel then that has not come to pass, nor has it succeeded in getting America to destroy is arch enemy, Iran.
 
I don't want to puff at the hopium pipe, but it seems that Israel and Haven's friends in the Gulf have taken some serious hits. And Iran is not finished, not by a long shot. Would be interesting to see what the proposal actually was? If it's miles off what the US will settle for, this war, or at least the closure if the straits, will drag on till the end of the year at least. Massive crash incoming.

If they were confident of asking too much then it suggests that the plenty left in reserve and are able to fight on. Of course it could be a bluff, but I think not.
 
Just to keep things nice and consistent in the mean-time ( before a Deal or No Deal )

My considered recommendation is to = = Kill lots and lots of Islamists ( just to keep the eyes in, to be sure, to be sure )

I read elsewhere that it was pretty much the same as the last proposal.

I think we need to come to the understanding that Iran is not a country which abides by the niceties of normal diplomacy, confront that with Trump who certainly does not conform to the norms of international tact and respect and there will exist the stalemate we are witnessing now.

China is Iran's main customer, if Trump is going cap in hand to ask that it puts pressure on Iran then it marks a significant shift in the balance of world power. The military might of the US has failed, will the economic clout of China succeed, or is the Revolutionary Guard simply impossible to deal with?

It's obvious that the US underestimated the will of Iran to fight back, they were obviously told by Israel that once the bombs land, regime change was at hand. Didn't happen, in fact the opposite occurred. I would hazzard a guess if China invaded Taiwan, they would also struggle. Once nukes are off the table, it seems to me there is no real military might?

A sound observation. Israel dropped Trump right in the poop then ran, although it might be argued that Trump should of known better.

But yes, military might is not what it was.
 
The military might has not failed but the will to use it has. Even conventional, the US could level the place easy

It might be that America has thousands of acres of underground bunkers stuffed to the gills with bombs, but getting them to the target is the problem. How vulnerable are B52s to Iran's air defences? The US appears reluctant to find out.

It doesnt matter. B-52s flew approximately 126000 sorties in the Vietnam War, dropping 2.6 million tons of explosives. The US still lost.

That's true, but a full ground assult, would presumably result in a US victory, but at what cost, and that seems to be the issue. Also, once the battle is won, then what, sucked into a long term quagmire, exactly what Trump promised against. This has been Trump's biggest disaster, could not have played this any worse?
