As everybody knows at this stage, the price of fuel, especially diesel, has risen exponentially in Ireland in the last few years, at first due to huge and increasing taxes, the increasing one being the Carbon Tax, then the Ukraine and now the Persian War.

Some small traders, hauliers, contractors, farmers and fishermen are massively exposed to these huge increases and are left desperately hanging onto businesses, farms, boats and equipment. Anyway in response to that large scale protests have been organised around Ireland but centring on O'Connell Street in Dublin and the M50 orbital motorway around that city.

Here is a flavour of the atmosphere at that Dublin protests three days in from when it started, and many thanks to all who assisted Sarsfields in compiling this report:

I was wondering can everybody see that video? As far as I know its not restricted by youtube but here in Ireland, at least on the above link, I don't seem to be allowed watch it?

Great to see the horses back in the city! Any chance of a written summary?

Yes, the cavalry turned up, but can you see that video anyway? This is what I get:

Wow, mystery solved, I am just here using my laptop in a small Cavan hotel and when I use their wifi I get the above blocked message and the video silently disappears from the list at youtube's sarsfieldsvirtualpub page. It's back again when I use my own phone wifi, very interesting, I wonder how widespread that is?

I totally agree, people should be unafraid to extend it into opposing the overall tyranny we are under. After all the government will say, about the fuel taxes, that they need the money, so hence the gigantic sum of money spent every year on the invasion, on IPAS centres etc, becomes relevant because thats maybe about the same as they raise in fuel taxes so it can be used as a counter argument?

All I get is two photos, no option to click through. But a two line summary would be great, even if the vid did work.

Many protestors are mentioning money being sent to Ukraine or spent here on fake refugees. This is last straw demo: on top of the thousand other evil things the govt is doing to us, they are also doing this.

Every grievance is included in this demo. But it would make sense to stop blocking most roads and switch the demos to politicians' houses, if the Gardai allow it.

What do our resident Garda snitches think of that idea?

Unfortunately, most cant go public due to job or whatever.

@Diarmuid Can you not get a go pro or other type of camera. Or a cheap phone just to make videos

Great stuff Aldo and its noticeable as well how much Dubliners are helping the protesters. They are weighing in with food and actually a fund has been started, by Michael McCarthy who is active on twitter, and this fund has been used to pay for a for hotel nights for some of the drivers. (Otherwise they have to sleep in their cabs and thats not very easy.)

Cinnte. But first I need a letter from the US Ambassador to the Minister for Justice letting him know that Uncle Sam has a direct interest in my personal safety. :) Someone sent a tiny, crazy English lady to stab me six months ago, and I've been a bit jittery ever since.

She's supposedly in Clare now. Cherie Reynolds. White van. Loves animals. Hates humans. Watch out.
