As everybody knows at this stage, the price of fuel, especially diesel, has risen exponentially in Ireland in the last few years, at first due to huge and increasing taxes, the increasing one being the Carbon Tax, then the Ukraine and now the Persian War.
Some small traders, hauliers, contractors, farmers and fishermen are massively exposed to these huge increases and are left desperately hanging onto businesses, farms, boats and equipment. Anyway in response to that large scale protests have been organised around Ireland but centring on O'Connell Street in Dublin and the M50 orbital motorway around that city.
Here is a flavour of the atmosphere at that Dublin protests three days in from when it started, and many thanks to all who assisted Sarsfields in compiling this report:
