The European Commission is expected tomorrow to reverse the EU's effective ban on sales of new combustion-engine cars from 2035, bowing to intense pressure from Germany, Italy and European automakers struggling against Chinese and US rivals.

The European Commission is expected tomorrow to reverse the EU's effective ban on sales of new combustion-engine cars from 2035, bowing to intense pressure from Germany, Italy and European automakers struggling against Chinese and US rivals.

It was always portrayed as an outright ban, but never was, and even RTE are starting to acknowledge that now by referring to it as an 'effective' ban.

The deal was that cars that could run only on biofuel, HVO etc would still be allowed to be sold, although it was never quite worked out how this could be implemented. So by no means was it an all out ban, but this was rarely explained in the MSM.
