The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is more popular than ever in the eastern German state of Saxony Anhalt, results published on Thursday suggest. The new benchmark comes about a year before regional parliamentary elections scheduled for September 2026.
Almost 40% of the voters in Saxony Anhalt would back the party if the elections were to be held this weekend, according to a survey conducted by the Infratest Dimap Institute on behalf of several news media outlets.
AfD’s closest competitor – the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) – would only get 27% of the votes, putting it 12 percent points behind the AfD.
The party’s popularity has continued to grow despite its regional branch in Saxony Anhalt being declared a “far-right extremist” group by the German domestic security service (BfV) in 2023.
The poll involved over 1,100 eligible voters residing in the region and was held between August 28 and September 2.

The numbers suggest public support for AfD in Saxony Anhalt has nearly doubled since the previous regional election in 2021, when the party received slightly over 20% of the votes, coming second behind the CDU. The poll suggests support for AfD is up 2% since the party secured 37% of votes in Saxony-Anhalt in snap federal elections in February.
Another mid-August national poll suggested that AfD has overtaken Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s conservative bloc, becoming Germany’s most popular party. Support for AfD grew to an unprecedented 26% as the CDU fell to 24%, according to the RTL/ntv ‘Trendbarometer’ poll.
In May, the BfV declared the AfD a “confirmed right-wing extremist” group but suspended the designation pending a court ruling on the party’s appeal. German Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig also floated the idea of banning the party altogether, arguing that the level of public support for it is irrelevant if the authorities deem it unconstitutional.

It wasnt long ago though Linehan was calling us all racist.

You may be aware of the Nazi pug case, in which Scottish YouTuber Mark Meechan landed a conviction for making a video involving his dog and a Nazi salute.
I’ve spoken (well, tweeted) a lot about the guy’s alt-right background and association with fascists and right-wing conspiracy-mongers. This is a racist right-winger signalling to other racist right-wingers. That’s all I really think about it. But, Twitter being Twitter, my perceived position on the matter has somehow migrated to one I don’t actually hold – that I have something against transgressive comedy.


I have a general sympathy for Meechan, just as I have sympathy for all the young, dumb, angry white men falling under the spell of online hucksters, but my sympathy extends only so far. I notice some comedians seem to be taken in by his shtick, but in this I am reminded of my favourite Tommy Cockles joke, where he said of his dentist, “They say he tortured Jews during the war, but he was always terribly nice to me.”

The whole trans gender thing is actually a kind of controlled explosion by the Globalists. They pushed it but then intended it would all blow up in due course, and would then give credibility to their guys that they had been 'cancelled' etc for their opposition to it. Open your eyes. Harry Potter is not just a book. It is Satan’s gospel for children — a trap dressed up in magic and wonder, leading millions by the hand straight toward damnation.

Every spell, every ritual, every curse in those pages is not fantasy — it is an imitation of the occult, a counterfeit of the forbidden arts God has condemned. I must confess I have never read a Harry Potter book nor watched a Harry Potter film, I long ago simply dismissed the whole damn franchise as a just another hyped up money spinner for whoever managed to attach themselves to it, this is the first time that I have encountered the notion that they contain real spells that can be enacted.

Two points, if I may, to counter the prevailing sentiment of the above posts. Firstly, the dismissal of spiritualism strikes me as an attempt to silence the opposition in an ancient world where disciplined belief systems were being formed and competition was fierce for the attention and commitment of individuals. Secondly, if we are gong to bandy about biblical quotes then might I suggest Corithians 13:11 - 'When I became a man I gave up childish ways'.

When you say organic I understand you mean that they they took off by themselves and yes, I would agree to a point, but when the money men see a snowball start to roll they pretty soon jump in and start heaving away to encourage its momentum and growth.

Interested in the phenomenon, I've tried watching the film but I couldn't do it, it doesn't do anything for me but who's to know if I was a kid. I remember reading Roald Dahl's The Witches when I was a kid and they had a movie of it too that I still remember. And that was spooky shit as well you know

Albeit with my limited exposure, I've never understood the attraction. But I've more or less put it down to me not being a kid anymore
