If consciousness is entirely reducible to brain activity, how do you account for rigorously documented death experiences, such as those in the Lancet study by Pim van Lommel; where patients reported accurate perceptions of their surroundings during periods of flatlined EEG and absent cortical activity. In other words, how can veridical conscious experience occur in the total absence of measurable brain function and why is there such commonality in these death experiences regardless of the cultural or religious background of the person who dies?

I have not watched it either. I have read about it. I was listening to Delingpole earlier talking to some guy who fancied himself as a philosopher and they were talking about Truth and Beauty and how evil stuff like this weighs in your mind and cannot be unseen. I think they had a point. I remember watching a beheading video very early on in the Iraq war. A US or UK aid worker beheaded by an ISIS team. It has stayed with me ever since, I regretted it and wish I had never seen it.
