Your question was ignored because it’s a silly strawman. Everyone has a soul despite what their believes are. The soul is what makes someone rational, capable of free will and hence, morally responsible for their actions. It’s what the Catholic Church refers to as ‘the natural law’. So, unbelievers can act morally because they participate in reason.

Now, that that’s out of the way….if consciousness is entirely reducible to brain activity, how do you account for rigorously documented death experiences, such as those in the Lancet study by Pim van Lommel; where patients reported accurate perceptions of their surroundings during periods of flatlined EEG and absent cortical activity. In other words, how can veridical conscious experience occur in the total absence of measurable brain function and why is there such commonality in these death experiences regardless of the cultural or religious background of the person who dies?
a great question .
the old Irish knew the answer and so much of their wisdom surfaces in the extraordinary amount of Nobel prizes for English literature we have .
the outsiders/Anglos/crude literati refer to this as HIBERNO ENGLISH.
or English influenced by the ancient Irish language in our terminology.
in very crude English ---HE DIED informs us of nothing -not even what died means --he was born is similar so terribly crude with no clue what born means .
FUAR BAS = found death---it not the end of the matter he still exists
he is not gone ---he just met death on the road .
RUGAGH SE = he was brought forward --
from where you ask --who brought him forward--
its inescapable he was always there------ is always here ----- will always be here ---- as he---- has always existed .
we have always existed --will always exist as we are part of the consciousness.
my wife came home one day from an outdoor course of nature given in the Irish language and the rte woman nula ni ------- and she suddenly pointed at a hovering bird and said look look we are so lucky today --PUC NA GAOITHE.
and they looked and yes the bird was hovering in one spot over a mouse in the field making rapid pelvic thrusts in order to hover above .
and the old Irish saw this and gloriously christened the Irish falcon ""THE WIND FUCKER"" -- but nobody in the Anglo speaking world including all our schools and universities would ever use the rich and glorious description which would stay in any child's mind forever as an understanding of the bird and what its true nature was .

great interview by an Irishman who is sympathetic to Ireland and its culture .
is there anyone in RTE capable of doing this interview without sneering at the man.
they are all full of shite .
we got an interview which is rewarding and valuable as people who believe in the spirits of the land will believe in the spirits of mankind and will look inward for god and that is not allowed today.
That is Kelly country, they are all related down there
