roc_ is correct that there are divisions within Irish Catholicism over mass immigration that can be very stark indeed however I have the impression that a lot of the enthusiasm for it at least among certain age groups is driven by a particular type at least of anti-Catholicism, certainly this is true as regards Politics.ie if you not the wider population. I find myself wondering with some characters whether if you took away their anti-Catholicism than they might develop saner approaches to these issues- that may hold more true though for the females than the males (a lot of males who support mass immigration do so out of addiction to immigrant prostitutes).
