What does one expect - they were handed a relatively functioning land.. at least from an infrastructural viewpoint - just go look what they did with it, all the while breeding like rabbits. No. Unfortunately the Irish government placed all their eggs in the one basket. If these MNCs left, the country would be completely screwed, and the IMF would need to return. These US MNCs know they have the Irish political class over a barrel.

Well I would agree with you there. In the tech space in particular we should be growing Irish-based startups to offset the risk a bit. But I'm not seeing that to any great extent.

a real dept of health would be concerned with health and would be courageous in its behaviour and reporting.

But this is no longer the health service we once knew. Covid changed all priorities - are you familiar with a researcher called Stuart Wilkie over in the Yookay?
