On a serious note, the government revealed recently that 90 per cent of "international protection applicants" are arriving via the North. The asylum shoppers are traveling through a host of safe countries, making their way to the North and exploiting the CTA to rock up in Dublin claiming to be fleeing persecution. It's fucking laughable. A government interested in dealing with this scam crisis would simply refuse the applications of anyone unable to provide proof of legal entry and without documentation.
Instead these scammers are accommodated at our expense, never deported, and eventually granted leave to remain - whether that's through being granted refugee status or some bullshit amnesty.
